M4 Oil Type

Recently purchased an M4 and wondering what brand and type of oil people are favoring for the S55?

I’m coming from an N55 335i, where I was using Liqui-Moly 5w30 consistently.

Isn't that oil LL-04 and a low SAPS oil for Europe / diesels?

PP 5W-40 is LL-01.

You are correct and so I'm wondering what's there to love?

Again,
best advice is to stick with LL-01 , not someone who randomly loves an oil for whatever reason. There are so many LL-01 oils to choose from, ranging from cheap to expensive.
My personal use at the moment is Castrol 0w30 / 0w40 full syntec either belgium / german made. These are both LL-01, readily available at walmart / amazon for cheap. Or just stick to OEM..

Unfortunately the new German Castrol eliminated LL-01 from the bottle but I don't believe the formulation has changed. I ordered some from Amazon last week and the bottle still said LL-01.

I use GC 0W-40 for my N54 and PP 5W-40 for the S55.

I own both BC 0W30 (made in belgium) and GC 0w40 (made in germany). Both are in front of me and say LL-01, which new syntec are you talking about? I also order both from amazon and all say LL-01.

That is old stock. New bottles remove ll-01.

Ah I see. Haven't seen that happen yet but not surprised, the SOPUS X BMW effect. Mobil 1 0w40 used to carry LL01 certification as well.

Looks like Castrol Edge 5W-30 and 5W-40 still carry LL-01. However these formulations appear to be much more expensive than the "German Castrol."

I'm probably going to switch over to PP 5W-40 for both cars once I cannot find the LL-01 GC 0W-40 anymore. For the increased price point, PP has a better formulation.
