Keep in mind that the ability to flash VIA OBDII is currently in the process
of being offered by multiple tool developers, which will then be distributed
through multiple top level software brands as well as independent tuners.

The same differentiation still exists in terms of the actual software
calibrations (performance files) being delivered to the end user, as well
as brand reputation, future service and support strategies, updates and
upgrades, etc...

VF do you agree with what another Tuner is saying below -

"Unlocking over OBD does not perform a full readout like unlocking on bench does. Currently the only way to fully restore any given DME back to full stock software including flash counters is still via open/bench flash"

This is correct, in terms of obtaining a full readout.

That being said, the vehicle can still be flashed back to full stock, but
just not with the flash counter reset until we update that feature.

Flash counters have not been a concern on our end as our customers
are not repeatedly flashing their ECU's with numerous updates or test
files for various "custom" options/remote tuning/data logging sessions.

For those who still want to go the bench unlock/patch route, the same
process exists through any of our existing HEX Flash dealers that we've
been using for last last 18+ months!

Can you read and adjust all the maps through obd2 like bench flash? Or are there some maps you can't access without unlocking the ecu?

Just curious (and sorry if it's a dumb question or i'm just dense)....if I get bench flashed initially, does it then make it possible for me to flash back to complete stock through the port now?

Tuning wise is there anything available to someone who has done bench flashing with a full readout that's not going to be available to someone that has port flashing done?
