GTS vs G82 M4
Hey guys
I'm debating whether to buy a GTS M4 or a G82 M4. This will be to used as a weekend car to keep mileage off my other weekend cars lol I have a son with autism that loves taking car drives so I'm always taking him on drives to give my wife a break Has anyone else had both cars that can give me some feedback. I like raw cars but already had a F80 M3 in 2017 and I wasn't impressed with it when I had it. I'm hoping the GTS does a better job keeping the driver engaged

To elaborate, the GTS is junk and the G82 is heavy and has very little if any driver engagement.

Hey dude! Hope you and the family are well.
Well first things first, let's get the elephant out from under the carpet. The GTS is raw! But has flaws from BMW…the knuckles on the front strut crack..how? Beyond me but SYT_Shadow on here has been figuring things out with it. I for one wanted a GTS along side of my e92 m3 that I've had since 2014 but I'm weary. Weary from that issue of the knuckle. Second issue is the trunk sprayer system ..I'm butchering this I know…anyway it has its issues. If you can get a GTS for in the $70's then hey that's a deal for a rare car that comes equipped !! Oh and the bitch is light…it's 3,3xxlbs. So if you ever decide to track it consumables won't be as much as these newer pigs….. The newer pigs are refined tho I won't deny that. |

what didn't impress you about your F80 M3?
I think all new sports cars are too refined to feel raw anymore. They are so easy to drive fast that you need to do double the speed limit or get the tires to make noise around corners to really feel anything. I think the only way you can get "raw" anymore is to go back to older generations of cars that both are fast and dont inspire confidence whatsoever, or modify a new sports car into practically a race car with good horsepower, basically no exhaust system, stiff racecar suspension, manual steering, squeaky brakes, and solid bushings. |

Full tank with stock everything 3600 lbs on my GTS
Congrats on the G82 OP. If I were you though, I would find a sedan G/F80 with GTS/CSL coding and coilsovers. If you decide to get a roll cage, THEN I would advise going with the GTS since it has almost everything you'll need to have a track toy. Personally I've put SPL arms, iron swapped the CCB calipers, Apex rims, and Recaros, and I ain't doing much else. Admittedly the one thing I'm looking at is getting Alcon/AP's for the front so I can have an 18" square setup. The knuckles are a concerning factor but I have 28k miles on my GTS with a fifth being ON track. No issues to date.

Honestly the only thing that bothered me about the F80 was the S55. I hated home the power come on down low and the noise was horrible Don't forget I had a 2017 so I'm sure there was a lot of after market parts that came out afterwards

The f80 platform is not where you want to be investing money imo, unless you know how to turn a wrench or have deep pockets to pay someone, very deep. The g82 has more potential with mild tunes and less money, to be as fast, faster, better all around. This is the life cycle of disposal goods, unless you are a diehard lover of the gts and it’s your dream to own it. I’m no expert on anything like many of these people, I should disclaim. But this is what I have picked up by reading the thoughts of others. I think it is correct. Quote:
