I see you joined recently. Have you checked out the Engine sub forum? Have you tried searching as well? There are a ton of good threads on your topics that may help out. And congrats on the new car.
I'm sure others will chime in and help out, but those are good places to start. Just waiting for the inevitable JB4 vs Hex vs BM3 this inevitably going to turn into.

There are tons of vendors on the forums here and even more threads discussing products. As Thescout13 stated, I suggest take your time and read through the engine subforums. A ton of good information and lots of repetition (a good thing). Good luck, the F8X is an amazing capable platform. It doesn't take much to see significant gains. |

This is good advice you're getting so far, especially those comments regarding 'take your time'. And regarding 'read everything'. I'd add find an Indy shop where you feel comfortable and establish a relationship. I've done this by bringing small jobs (deck spoiler for example) so I can ask questions, get opinions, get a sense of the level of work they do and so forth. I see you list NYC, so I'd suggest Autocouture, just over the river (contact below), for that. For vendors: IND, ECS and Turner Motorsport. They answer their phones and their emails, great sources of believable info. HAVE FUN!

It's a wonder how/why many people will take the time to reply, only not to actually say anything?!? You never indicated what (sub-) model ("ZCP"?) and/or year your F8x is. Here goes (I.M.O.)... Your car is a near luxury German Sports Sedan/Coupe. Add Mod's. that will increase its' value, even if it's only to you. Don't cheapen it! Don't Mod. just for modifying's sake. * "Down Pipes". Unless your tracking your car, I wouldn't recommend. This Mod. will definitely increase Hp., but it will also throw "CEL" errors that you will have to find a workaround for, as you will be deleting the primary cat's. * C.A.I. - Ideally a "Cold(-er) Air Intake" should not even have its' filter elements in the engine bay! These should be as far away from the engine (up front/ahead of the radiator) as possible thus, avoiding any colateral and counterproductive radiant heat. What are you looking for? -> Looks? -> Sound? -> Hp.? [(+-) +3~5] -> Efficiency? Some may affect the sound of the actual air coming in and some are more beautiful than others ("Eventuri" - Gorgeous!) but, none add any marked improvement in Hp. Quality and reasonably priced examples of these are: * "Maximum PSI" - Made in USA (Sells directly) * "MSR" - Made in USA Otherwise, as many have suggested, for efficiency and the Butt Dyno, "BMC" drop in Air Filters and the removal of the stock charcoal filters is the way to go. Consider the following: * "BMC" drop in Air filters (& Charcoal Filters removal) - This increases air flow. ** * "Active AutoWerke" Mid Pipes - This removes secondary Cat's., resonator and sounds much better (than stock). Made in USA ** * Tune - -> "BootMod3" - User friendly (GUI) access -> "Alex@alpinemss" - DIY & Remote coding & tuning Other recommendable vendors would include: * "Ind-Distribution" (Ryan - Highly So!) ** * "AutoTalent" * "Xtreme Power House" * "Top Gear Solutions" * "SSR Performance" - Made in USA (Shah's a good guy!) * "CTS Turbo" - Made in Canada ** * "Status Gruppe" - Made in USA (+-) BMW/O.E. Parts - -> "ECS Tuning" (Some Euro. parts) ** -> "BMWpartspros" -> "getBMWparts" (Jason's a Great Guy! - Price Match!!) ** Have fun. Cheers! ** Personal Choice Last edited by Dr._Who; 08-21-2018 at 11:34 AM.. |
