M3/M4 S55 PURE Stage 2 Turbo Upgrade - 745whp !!!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Dear BMW Community,

We are proud to offer the S55 PURE Stage 2 Turbo Upgrade.

Please see the mentioned features below:

-Upgraded Billet Compressor Wheel

-Upgraded Turbine Wheel

-Upgraded Thrust Bearing with increased thrust bearing surface area

-CNC Ported Compressor Housing Inlet Elbows

-CNC Machined Aerodynamic Compressor Bullet Nose

(all performed in house on our machines)

Interesting tech notes:

We produced our custom spec S55 turbine wheel to provide ample flow volume, yet still fit the turbine housing casting and maintain equal inducer ports.

It is critical the compressor inlet elbows are CNC ported (not hand ported). The large o-ring gland leaves very little inside diameter wall thickness. If these inlets were to be hand ported, one could risk insufficient wall thickness, o-ring gland failure, and eventual turbo failure. With CNC control, we can hold our wall thickness tolerance within 0.0002".

We offer two different S55 turbo upgrades.

-Fast Spool: Spools like stock turbos, capable of 600+whp

-HiFlow: 300-500rpm spool difference, capable of 700+whp

Our first set of turbos are finished. We have already began the installation on our M4 shop test car! We are very excited to see the results.

Please see the mentioned features below:

-Upgraded Billet Compressor Wheel

-Upgraded Turbine Wheel

-Upgraded Thrust Bearing with increased thrust bearing surface area

-CNC Ported Compressor Housing Inlet Elbows

Interesting tech notes:

The turbine housings do not have enough casted material to support the installation of the TD04HL sized turbine wheel. If this wheel size is installed, it will result in an irregular sized inducer port. This means one turbo would have different back pressure than the other. Not acceptable for twin turbo application by our standards.

This first set is an example of the largest version we will build for the S55. We expect power to be fuel system limited for now. Meth with help, and an additional injector set will allow full potential in the future. We can also build a slightly tamer version which would spool faster and match the current fueling limitations.

Thanks for your time,
-PURE

damnnnn..... those billet compressor wheels......

Vargasturbotech must be stabbing a pure turbo's spirit doll right now. The hardware and quality looks oem clean, better than oem would produce actually.

Since we know the stock turbos can make the clutches slip in the DCT, what are you guys planning for the clutches?

Great work, btw.

Great work Pure turbo.

Questions for you:

1. Is your upgraded turbine wheel material Inconel 718 or MarM-247 like the original MHI turbine wheel?
2. Is the Aluminium alloy used in the upgraded compressor wheel the same or different from the original MHI compressor wheel?
3. Do you perform CFD and FEA in house for your turbine and compressor wheels?
4. Have you any experience with titanium compressor wheels and do you see any value in this application?

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for the kind words. We really appreciate it.

We are continuing the installation today. The stock turbos are removed. It only took us 3 hours to have them out. The turbos are actually surprisingly easy to remove in our opinion. It's basically: remove downpipes, remove right side motor mount, remove turbos. Not bad at all.

We are not considering these available for sale until they are tested and making power. The non-official ball park price would be around $5000 + $4000 core deposit. We will also offer an installed price, which would waive the core deposit.

More updates soon!!!

Thanks for your time,
-PURE

Hey Guys,

We finished installation last night about 7pm. We started driving/tuning/testing for about 100 miles. We had e30 in the tank, so we are driving off that fuel then will be switching to 100 unleaded. We are also installing a meth kit. Last night, the car feels equally fast at 20 psi with the Stage 2 turbos compared to 24 psi with stock turbos. So the turbos are working very well and the car is running very efficient. Of course this is just how it feels, we are not making any power claims. We have not put it on the dyno yet. We should have it on the dyno this week. The turbos are making full boost about 3000 rpm. So they spool very nicely. They are spooling faster than we expected actually. The car is louder, and you can hear more fancy turbo sounds. We love it. All good news so far, more updates will follow as we progress.

Thanks for your time,
-PURE
