Seat wear leatherique before and after.
Got myself a 15 M4 with 73,000 miles. The M was very well taken car of but there is some wear on the drivers seat. What do you guys suggest to remedy this.

There are professional leather repair places, just vet them carefully. In the future to prevent this, it will determine how you get in and out of your car.
I find the best way to get in and out of a car is like this: Getting In Open the door and sit on the seat first. Turn your body in and bring in one foot at a time. Getting out Open the door and turn your body to get your legs out first. Prop your self up on the door sill and push your self out/stand up. This helps prevent additional wear and tear on the bolster when you get in and out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ST3ygfg28s I learned this from my last car as it was really low to the ground.

Your best bet is to drop by your local dealer and find out who they use for leather repairs. They won't use someone unless they're happy with the results.

+ 1 Colourlock
Leatherique is another option. Perfect timing…if you apply and leave it out in the heat & humidity, you will get better results. Only issue is that it takes time. |

I used Leatherique. Worked very well, the only problem is it reviled the wear on the center arm rest. Most likely going to get a new one from FCP but was wondering if any of you have a slip on cover you like to protect yours from this very thing. Before, after, arm rest.

Nice! I go back & forth with Colourlock and Leatherique…both great products. You can probably find a used one at a relatively inexpensive ask. I don't plan to sell mine but know many others have swapped the leather for the Alcantara/CF option. Post a "WTB" in the applicable forum & I am sure you will have some luck. |

The leatherique isn't a dye. It's a two part deep cleaning product. It was a good bit of work but we'll worth it. Check it out on YouTube. If it didn't turn out as good as it did I was going to try colourlock. I'm happy with the results.

I have black leather and my bolster looks exactly the same. That's how I bought it. It hasn't gotten any worse in the 25,000 miles since I bought it because I've kept up with the Leatherique. Sometimes I just apply it to that one section and put some seran wrap over it and let it soak for a while. It's great stuff, but it's not a permanent solution to the bolster wear.

I would strongly recommend using Colourlock Leather Shield on the bolsters now. It's a terrific product and will likely prevent you from having to go back to Leatherique down the road. |

Its a car dude... if you don't want any seat scuffs... don't buy used, and never drive the car. Tutorials on how to get in and out of ones car.... really?!! You need to view your seats as a wear item, and you can only help prevent/delay wear to them with proper maintenance from day 1 - or keep your car as a garage queen.
On another note.. you either have to pay for a full repair, or you can apply a conditioner like Leather Masters to the areas affected most; pair this with a monthly cleaning/conditioning to prevent further scuffing. Ensure the seats are free of debris and small gritty bits before cleaning - not doing this will cause micro scuffs on the leathers surface = further damage. |

I noticed the side bolster was really pronounced when I got my M4 and anticipated accelerated wear on this part of the seat.
To prevent this from happening and to help me get out of the car (I'm tall), I put my hand down on the rocker panel. I lift up from my feet (one in and one outside) and hand to avoid compressing the bolster. Wear has been minimal this way. If you repair the wear, it will be made worse again by leaning into it during egress. |

Just remember, this is just like a girl who wears too much makeup. Eventually you will wake up to that fuggly chick one day, once the product wears off.
Conditioning the seats is simply a cover-up, and considered temporary, so you will want to keep up with regular maintenance. |
