* On the one hand the luxury side is crowded with the Bentayga, Cullinen, Urus, Ferrari's new thing, and Porsche ... but those are all more mid-sized SUV. * Then you have the renaissance happening in America luxury with full-size SUVs: Escalade, Navigator, and now the Grand Wagoneer. Cadillac is releasing their Escalade-V & GW is releasing a stretch version to compete with the 'Gator L & Escalade ESV: BMW & Benz have tried to nudge in there with the X7 (203 x 79) & the GLS (205 x 85) versus, say, the Escalade non-ESV (212 x 81) or the 'Gator non-L (210 x 80). Benz has then tried to create a new upper tier luxury market with the Maybach GLS, but still on the smaller side... ... and now BMW appears to be trying to create its own niche with a smaller-than-full-size luxury sport model. Both of these German barges will compete with the larger American full-sized SUVs, and all 3 now have even larger versions (ESV, L, GW XL) so who knows ... but an interesting segment! |

Crazy how big cars/trucks continue to get. The tipping point before was the oil crisis IIRC but with the move to electric will we see a similar market correction?
Sidenote...my buddy at Cadillac just told me they are bringing out an 18+ foot luxury sedan which is knocking on the door of his coupe Deville length. |

No doubt it will be a hot seller in the Chinese market, given that it will probably have enough rear seat space to teach a yoga class. |

What does everyone here think of the new 8er's grills. I don't know if its just me, but they remind me of teeth with huge gaps since they don't touch the bottom of the grills. Also of course M-badges and M-mirrors were added to this non-M car.

I wasn't a huge fan of the 8 to begin with - these new grilles kind of give off a cartoonish vibe if I'm honest. But in a odd way, the cartoonish-ness fits kind fits in perfectly with the current line of BMWs. It's definitely not the worst looking BMW out there, but certainly average or slightly below.

This LCI is uneventful and restrained which is a good thing considering the heinous design elements on all the new BMWs. |

Also waiting to see the new Nissan Z. The 1st gen BRZ i had was just incredible car - go cart handling, direct steering with just right amount of weight, great 6mt, amazing seats and driving position. You can be over 6ft and be comfortable with plenty of legroom and headroom. Can’t do that in a Miata. The engine was the big negative and I didn’t want to mess with modifying it to eak out 20-30hp. The new gen seems to have huge improvement with power and based on Videos i have seen, it sounds decent with right header/exhaust. Very excited to drive the new one and pick one up in the future. |

Most of the new grilles seems to be upside down to some degree. Minus the obvious one I am not mentioning but we all know what it is… :P

I've heard BMW is getting rid of the 4-series (and 6) in favor of the 8-series from 2024 on, but that was just from some dude ... stein_325i will have the final word on that

I find these rumors interesting as if anything the 4er has been the best selling coupe model in BMW's lineup, more so than the 2er which always sold very low in comparison (sales didn't jump until the Gran Corolla arrived) and the 8er has been a sales failure seeing as its just a 6-Series with $20k added in price, so getting rid of the 4er would be odd. Also the 4er has heritage, although more so with its older and proper name (3-Series coupe). The 3-Series started as a coupe, and has always been offered in coupe form, even when they changed the number to 4 (which I still find unnecessary). On top of that, they just gave the 4er huge nostrils so it could have its own personality and design, would be weird to get rid of all of that and replace it with an entirely new model. That being said BMW has gone crazy in many areas, so it's definitely possible.

I dunno bro. They slashed the 8, and the 4 is a hot selling item.
