New Wagner S55 FMIC being released in APRIL!!

Thought I would share this new product release!!

COMPETITION INTERCOOLER KIT BMW F80-82-83 M3/M4

The 3.0 Liter S55B30 turbo engine from BMW M3/M4 models is equipped with an indirect charge-air cooling circuit. So the cooling of the charged air is realized by a watercooled intercooler which will be replaced by this WagnerTuning high-performance intercooler.

The WAGNERTUNING high-performance intercooler has got a new competition core (Tube Fin) with the external core dimensions 287 mm x 185 mm x 115 mm / 11,3Inch x 7,3Inch x 4,5Inch. This intercooler core was directly developed for the high requirements of the BMW M3/M4 and offers 114 % more external core volume compared to the stock intercooler. The calculated ratio between the inner and outer cooling surface generates a maximum heat transfer and at the same time the best possible internal air flow. The aluminum cast endtanks were designed in CAD and optimized in CFD simulations. The result is an excellent cooling property with a minimal back pressure. That`s why this kit is also perfect for racing use. An optimal cooling effect of the charged air with a significant increase in performance!

All WAGNERTUNING radiators are equipped with a heat-conductive anti corrosion coating to ensure a lasting cooling effect. The plug & play installation of the system is simple and easy to perform (an installation instruction is included as well).

Advantages of this product:
- significantly better cooling performance
- less pressure drop
- more power and torque for your engine
- mechanical discharge of the turbocharger
- 100% pressure resistance
- 100% Plug and Play
- up to 4 years warranty

core dimensions stock intercooler:
276 mm x 136 mm x 76 mm / 10,9Inch x 5,3Inch x 3,0Inch
V = 2,85 Liter

core dimensions WT intercooler:
287 mm x 185 mm x 115 mm / 11,3Inch x 7,3Inch x 4,5Inch
V = 6,10 Liter

Wait, do you mean this is a FRONT MOUNT intercooler and not topside like stock?

An in yo face FMIC is basically the only thing these cars are missing, so I hope it's true! This would also be great because it would get rid of the leaking coolant reservoirs we've been hearing about right?

no, not an FMIC (which is usually used for air-to-air). Wagner (like other companies) has come out with both the top side air-water intercooler at the top as well as a front side heat exchanger (to cool the coolant as well).

Any word on state side pricing?

Wagner-Tuningshop.de shows 1990 Euros.
Not sure if that includes the front air to water or not.

Bummer, thanks. I saw FMIC in the thread title and got excited.

I'm sure it's still a very nice product however.

all we ask for are a few pulls on the highway with a datalogger to see if IATs are lower than stock.

yet all the companies have yet to provide any data.

They've done the tests but the data shows BMW did a damn fine job and it's not worth to drop $2k on nothing

Just wanted to let everyone know that I contacted Wagner directly regarding the release date of their new IC because I preordered in March with the expectation that it would arrive April 15th. Per Henry Bueno at Wagner everything is on track but release date is MAY 15th in Germany not April. Which realistically means June in the States.

Well Here is my take on this, as as the other poster mentioned the OEM ones do leak
and are weak point even on stock tuned cars.
I think the charge cooler is rather efficient but you will benefit more from the front/side mount rad to be honest.

cooling the water better with more volume and an efficient rad will benefit the charge cooler better than just changing out the top charge cooler.
the longer you can keep the water cooler the better

I am def in for a 2 rads, not 100% sold on the charge cooler.

Agreed. Do you know if the stock cooling system is independent of the engine coolant? Or is it shared on the same system just at a lower pressure? Thanks

no it's an independent system on it's own.
has nothing to do with engine coolant.
