Valve cover torque specs and pattern?

Hi everyone,

A year and a half ago I changed the valve cover gasket due to a leak. But now my PCV valve has failed.

I just ordered a new valve cover and spark plugs (while I'm in there)

When I did the gasket alone there were links to BMW TIS system that showed the torque specs and pattern. But the link is now dead.

Does anyone have this information for me?

I remember the pattern was crazy and I want to get it right.

Thank you.

7ft-lb is the usual spec for valve covers which is 10nm. As for pattern, its a star pattern usually starting at corners.

This is one of those examples where there's no chance I'd take the "advice" lol

Find the TIS; There is most likely a new link in the DIY section.

Hi Rich… that info is gold. I’m trying to fix the ticking sound on my F80. For what I’ve read, the sound is due to a badly torqued exhaust camshaft. Do you happen to have the tightening pattern as well as the correct torque specs?

thanks!
