How to improve the convertible? Coil-overs / air?

I have had a look at some old posts, but many are a bit out of date.

I find that the standard suspension on the F83 is just too bouncy - I want it firmer, but not harsh.

Is the problem the spring rate, or the shocker tuning?

This thread talks more about just the springs.

Ohlins are recommended:

Ohlins sound good, but they are quite expensive - is it worth it?

I see that some people have run accuair air suspension.
We have air suspension on our Macan and I love it, you can really make it soft or firm, higher or lower. This would be perfect for the F83, but I am worried about the handling and reliability.

Bags will make your car sloppy, but a comfortable street cruiser.

I see you're in Australia. You should check if you can source a set of Bilstein B6 shocks - I believe that will address your complaints. Get regular B6 shocks if you have passive suspension, and B6 Damptronic if you have EDC - they're plug and play using OEM connectors. Not sure if convertible M4 is supported though.

Thanks for your help it makes good sense.

I suppose that I wanted to try to kill two birds by getting better dampening and lowering.

However, as I have EDC, then I would either have to forgoe that or get a cancellation kit.

With the B6, I could just get some springs if I want to go lower.

I think my 997 911s has Bilstein's and I like the way that sticks to the road.

I'm in Australia and I got the Bilstein B6 EDC damptronics from the UK. Was planning to pair it with MPHAS however have now decided to go on with a different direction. I sold my Bilstein B6s since and have never got to try them out. But all I have heard about them is very good reviews.

Then you need a set of B6 Damptronic shocks to retain EDC. They plug right into the OEM cables and are compatible with lowering springs. Although I wouldn't go too low in the rear.

I'm not positive if M Performance HAS will work with the front shocks due to needing to transfer the collar from the stock shock, but something like Eibach V2 would be a good drop without the rears being too low.
