M4 CS Supertest - Sport Auto France

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com

https://video.sportauto.fr/video/152...test-BMW-M4+CS

Their supertests are driven by Christophe Tinseau at the LeMans short track, the Bugatti Circuit (which is still pretty long and fast, unlike most "short tracks"). This is pretty much the French equivalent of Randy Pobst driving at Laguna Seca.

Comparison with a few of their recent tests:
1:42.49 Huracan Performante
1:44.28 488GTB
1:45.44 Corvette Z06
1:46.82 991.2 GT3
1:47.27 AMG GTR
1:47.52 911.1 GT3RS
1:47.93 911.2 Turbo-S
1:50.12 M4 CS
1:51.29 Cayman GT4
1:51.35 Nissan GT-R
1:53.11 Audi TT-RS
1:53.50 Honda NSX
1:55.15 Giulia QV
1:55.80 Lotus Evora
1:56.06 Audi RS5 B9
1:56.25 M2

How is it that the CS is faster than a GTR? Also, 5 seconds faster than a QV yet the QV is faster at Nurburgring? And, only 3 seconds slower than a AMG GTR and 911 GT3 RS??? Not sure what to read into these results.

I am not surprised to see the M4 CS that much faster than the QV. The QV barely just matches track times of the base M4. That Nurburgring time for the QV was not done by an independent party, so it is to me. Alfa have still not provided a QV to Auto Motor & Sport for them to Supertest. Wonder why?

This is just one data point in terms of track times and should be taken as such. It is one that the M4 CS faired pretty well though.

It'd better. It's a 3350lb 630hp AWD mid-engine 2-setaer shod with very aggressive r-compound tires .

My base M4 can handle the track all day long without any issues, so I am sure the CS will too.

If it will it be "better" than a GT-R, I can't say. I don't have much data points regarding how GT-Rs handle full days at the track.

Different driver, tracks, days, options, weather, etc. when comparing to other tests. You can't read into these tests too much. The current crop of mid sized sports sedans are so close that who wins on a given day is up for grabs.

Companies also continue to develop their cars for a long time after launch, and not every change is publicized. Today's QV is probably not the same car as the earlier press cars that went around.

The issue with the F8X cars regardless of variety is the cars being under-tired. I was shocked on the jump of capability even on my E92 M3 by just moving on to 19X10 and 19X11 with a 275/295 setup. Would love to see what the CS is capable of with more tire.

Really all the turbo cars including all E82.

For my 1M the transformation from 285/30 on 18 x 10 all around to 315/30 with a 18x 10.5 on the rear was amazing..

I borrowed a friend's setup and it was awesome for Autocross and track. I finally stopped spinning up the rear on full acceleration. .

Just to note, the results are from a Giulia QV and M4 CS that were tested on the same track by the same pro racing driver less than 2 months apart. So it is reasonable to assume the Giulia QV has all the latest goodies.

I agree though that, as with any empirical test, there is inherent variation. As I stated previously, this is just one more data point.
