You definitely get what you pay for. I run a Uniden R7 with most of the bands segmented and disabled so that I only detect very specific California Highway Patrol frequencies and that's it. But cheaper detectors I've tried have had infinitely worse detection ranges.
Take the cost of one speeding ticket and add it to how much extra you'd pay for insurance if you got a speeding ticket. Then get an expensive detector. Edit: See you got a Uniden R3. Make sure you segment your Ka band (look up what bands your state police use) so you're not looking at worthless frequencies. You'll boost your detection range and reaction/processing speed by a lot. |
