Smile NEW: OpenFlash Tablet for F series M3/4/5/6

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Greetings!
We recently purchased our own F10 M5 Competition Package and have been burning the midnight oil. Which means that the OFT for the F series M cars is only a few weeks from public release. Price for the OFT has yet to be determined. But it will include:

-OpenFlash Tablet (v2) handheld
-Free unencrypted off-the-shelf tune files (Stage 1, 2 and 3)
-Free user tuning software with definition files

Custom E-Tuning service will also available for those who want a more vehicle specific calibration.

Screenshot of the OpenFlash tuning software (courtesy of Tuner Pro)

Official dyno results will start to trickle in next week. Have a great weekend

Thanks for catching that. This particular XDF is still under development as you can see form some of the missing axis data and undefined min/max ranges for color coding. The public release versions will have all the i's dotted and t's crossed. It will also be equipped with patch functions for those who want to enable certain features at the click of a button (more on that later).

PS. Fixed the RPM axis def on KD_MDIOP_1. It was off by 6 bytes

We will be releasing the OFT for F series M cars this later this month (July). Price for the M3/M4 OFT has yet to the be determined. But don't be surprised if we offer an introductory special priced the same as our GT86, MX5 and Abarth OFTs ($499).

CAN. The OFT is not a cloud based tuning system. All staged tune files auto generate upon installation (ECU reading) and are stored in OFT memory. These calibration files are unencrypted and can be downloaded from the OFT, viewed and even edited using our ECU tuning interface/def files.

so can we return the car to our actual stock map using the OFT via obd (rather than just a generic "stock-like" map) ?

Yes, that is correct. When you write the stock tune file back to the ECU, it will be indistinguishable from the original status (prior to tuning). But even if you have one of our tune files (OTS or custom) written to the ECU, the calibration verification number (CVN) will match that of the stock ECU file. Also, the flash counter is not incremented when the ECU is written.

oooh. Guess I might have to support a different platform. Any chance for a N55 anytime soon?

Will the V1 OFT still work with this or no? I've adopted OFT back in N54 days, and also on the FA20, so would love to support this platform. Will Defs & Bin's also be available for those without an OTS car, but want to help others e-tune OFT clients?

Yes, both OFT v1 and v2 will be compatible with F-series M car support. Off-the-shelf Tune files and XMLs/XDFs will be provide as usual. As will our custom e-tuning service (although our OTS tunes will work very well).

Not exactly. While the OFT shares the same hardware as the Powergate, it uses propriety firmware developed specifically by us. Instead of being a slave device that only accepts encrypted and keyed tune files (like the Powergate), it is a master device that accepts unencrypted tune files which makes it a far more powerful tuning tool as opposed to a transport device. It also offers data logging, enhanced diagnostics and offers various diagnostic actuations.

We are developing an OFT for the Biturbo AMG engines too. But BMW M OFT is being released first.

We spent over $300k on development cars this year alone. So expect a lot of interesting stuff being released this summer
