6 piston calipers for 18" wheels + 4 piston rears NEW PICS in 1st post

Hey guys,

those of you seeking better braking performance without the urge of spending big bucks might be interested to learn that I had 6-pot Brembos fitted today on my F80.

Brackets where custom made, disc remains OEM 380mm, the calipers came from a Merc SLS AMG and were repainted to match the OEM caliper color.

EDIT: I also had 4-pot Brembos from a Porsche Panamera fitted to the rear with the stock 370mm disc. Brackets were also custom made.

Braking (feel, modulation, consistency) is greatly increased. I think this a great, cheaper alternative for the CCBs or the aftermarket Brembo GT kit. The best part is that this setup clears 18" wheels - tested both with 513M OEMs and BBS SRs (as seen in the photos).

Cheers!
Chris

What was the cost of this and who made the brackets?

Did you upgrade the rears?

Now I wonder if your brake force distribution between front and rear are off now?

good Job !!, they look like they are out of c63, e63. they all used that caliper.

the c63 uses a 330mm x 26mm rotor so adapting the 380mm x 28mm with the custom bracket was an excellent idea !!! and cheap too since the calipers are $500 each plus brackets and pads of course...

Thanks for the insight. Looks like OEM. Did you make the custom brackets yourself?

This guy made the brackets: https://www.facebook.com/projektkpl/, you will need to get a price quote from him.

The calipers are from an SLS, where they are originally paired with 390mm discs. This makes the pad shape a perfect fit for the F8x.

I do not have the caliper part number - it has become unreadable after the repaint.

My rears remain stock for the moment and I will be testing this setup for a while. However I do have at least two ideas on how to upgrade the rear system and will post an update if I decide to do something with the rear brakes.

SLS Caliper is same as E63 and C63 front Calipers.

CTSV Caliper is similar except for how the caliper mounts to the car. It mounts more like the OEM 4pots. Anyone willing to try?

I don't speak MB, But 2011-2014 C63, E63, SLS use same 6 piston calipers.

I'm not really a fan of the brake hose taking that angle. I'd try to convert to a banjo if possible.

elmerzasty you mind posting a pic of your custom bracket?

I'm interested in this as well. I have always loved that caliper design since I seen them on a RS7, which I believe is the same one. forgive me if I'm wrong.

Not the same caliper. Similar shape. But RS7 bleed screws are in different spots.

It could still possibly work. Everything is pretty similar except for those bleeders.

That's what I meant was similar is the design/look. If I did do this, probably go the same route the op did. But, I'm very satisfied with the Oem kit, I would only change it for the appearance.
