Is there a M3 wave like Jeep's do?

I gave the peace symbol to a fellow M3 guy today and felt like an ass cause he didn't do it back. Is that a thing?

Being a biker for years, it’s sort of become part of my normal behavior to wave at others in a similar realm, so I definitely will thumbs up, peace sign, wave, etc. to a fellow M3er, or anyone who extends the courtesy to wave to me, actually

I just do a thumbs up with the windows down. I make it VERY obvious, probably a little awkward for the other person which forces him/her to either thumbs up or flash lights as acknowledgement lol

I also give a very obvious shaka to every F8X I see and I always get one back or at least a wave 🤙

I do the gentleman's nod every time I see a fellow e9x M. I always feel like if thumbs up or do ok sign it might come off as the middle finger, lol. Unless my windows are down I'll do the thumbs up. I usually get it back.

I give an upward head nod and a thumbs up if moving the same direction or stopped next to each other. A gear drop engine rev if moving opposite directions. Used to it now, but at first I was admittedly taken by surprise at the amount of polite attention it garners.

It didn't happen as much in my 435i, though sometimes, and not at all in my 328i. It's an almost daily occurrence in my m.

So I suppose yes, we are in the cool car club, and amongst bmw owners, the coolest car club. I didnt get my m4 for status at all. But I don't hate the camaraderie either. Even classic car guys, and street American muscle guys give a nod. They wanna race too though

It used to be a thing back in the E36/E46 days, although only the modded cars would acknowledge each other.

Now I've totally given up trying to give props to any other owner. When I had my FG GTS I once was passed by another FG GTS. I thought I'd surely get a reaction from one of the couple hundred people in the world that had the same car as me, but alas…when I tried to get his attention it was like I was a homeless man offering to clean his windshield. Eyes nailed straight ahead, stiff posture.

I do get reactions from M owners when I'm in a Porsche or Mclaren, though. They're the kind of reaction you guys get from Infiniti G37 drivers…

When I was younger this used to be a bmw thing. Not so much now. Sometimes I still get a wave or flash of the lights from other M car owners.

As a biker, 1000%. And it's for all bikers regardless of brand or type. In my E46 M3 it happens sometimes. In my M4… maybe 3 times ever lol

I just flip everyone off because these cars have no blinkers and are weaving in and out of traffic.

Yes, a wave or headlight blip if possible depending on whats easiest/safest. Or hand out thumbs up if practical. To any M car and really to reasonably nice looking semi special bmw. I am a sucker for older 5s and 7s. Was a former jeep driver and waved there also.

I am said m4, acting like a g37 owner when I see a super car

Also, I've noticed a lot of f8x owners are non-car guys often with non-modified convertibles who could care less about another m3/m4 pulling up to them, hence the lack of comradarie.

A lot of people just buy it to have the best 3 series or 4 series as a flex and don't understand it's a track weapon out of the factory that can keep up with a super car with a $500 tune.

edit:

The camaraderie around my area is more for modded cars, and especially when the modded bimmers see each other, we often give acknowledgement.
