Bridestone Potenza RE11's

I just got a major flat this morning on my RR tire and was dealing with another on the LR tire yesterday. It's time for new rubber!

Has anyone mounted these on their stock 18's? They have the following sizes:

275/35R18
275/40R18
285/30R18

Many people who are changing their 19" MPSS to RE11's go with the wider 285/35/19. I feel that the 30 sidewall on the 18" will be too little. Many people have reported that the 19" Bridgestones run almost 1" wider than the MPSS.

Main objective: more traction!!! Another option would be to run the 295 MPSS.

Please let me know your thoughts!

I would do 285/35R18s in the rear. I know PSS come in that size, not sure about the Bridgestones. The 30 profile will be way to short.

Thanks, I don't believe the Bridgestones come in that size. I have seen you commenting on many of the threads I am searching for. Do you think 295/35/18's will be too wide in the rear (stock 18" wheel)?

I run 285/30 18s square.
Check the middle of this thread for an Austin Yellow M4.

I've seen it done on an F80 in person and I think it's doable. Although I'd also upgrade the fronts to 275/35 in that case. I'd do:

255/40R18 f 275/40R18 r
265/35R18 f 285/35R18 r
275/35R18 f 295/35R18 r

I'd personally go with the middle option on the stock 18s.

I just looked on Tirerack and apparently RE-71Rs only come in 255/35R18 and 275/35R18. There's an option for 265/35R18 but not 285/35R18 (same case with AD08Rs).

If we want to mount 265f and 285r what are our options?

It looks like the MPSS come in 285/35/18. The 275/40/18 RE-11's have a tread width of 10", section width of 10.9 and overall diameter of 26.7". The 285/35/18 MPSS has a tread witch of 10.2, section width of 11.4" and overall diameter of 25.9". The 295/35/18 MPSS's are out of stock everywhere I have checked - they would be my tire of choice if available.

Thoughts??

Here http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...58&postcount=4 is my 35 series experience. I still like them, but they wore fast, next set is due in August.

Yup, I saw your post a while back! I originally wanted to stick with MPSS for street and track duty, but after track day yesterday they seem to wear pretty fast so it's not the best choice.

I think after my MPSS wears out I'll get a set of RE71Rs for dual purpose use.

Ooohhh ze40's...

What size/offsets did you go with on the wheels and tires? Also, what suspension do you have? If you don't mind me asking.

I've been toying with the idea of picking up a set of 18" Advan Racing RS-DF or RG-D2 in Machining/Racing Hyper Black... Just because...
