I don't need to google. I was specifically interested in the F80 adaptive suspension and it sounded like you were saying "no way, aftermarket will be better". But your observations were on street, not track. I'd like to see how non-adaptive aftermarket suspensions compare on track which is what he was talking about.

I also think that karussell was disputing what someone mentioned as fact that most people "will switch" out suspension parts for their M3s. Maybe I read that wrong.

Cheers.

well in terms of f80, yes, for me personally i would swap them out as i have had that experience with my other cars....my personal observations are on both street/track....i just mention the street part because most ppl say that if you get a track biased setup, its just not worth driving on the street but i think there are setups geared towards track but still comfy enough for the street. now, if you are going full blown $15k track suspension on the street , thats a different story

all that being said, i know the stock suspension is a great overall package no doubt and it was fantastic while i had it.

for me, i will be swapping them out. i look at it as i spent $1k (or however much it was) for adaptive, which i switched out and that was just an additional spend. everyone has their own personal taste.

its hard for me to read reviews and make my own judgements as everything is subjective in terms of harshness, comfort, body roll. if in fact when i test drive and it is all that i want in terms of a setup out of the box, there will be no reason to swap them out. if i do swap them out, it better be better.....damn if the suspension is that good out of the box, aftermarket options will be pricey as hell just to at least match the performance!

Unless you can one-up the BMW Engineers for under $1K, it's not worth it. IMHO

i agree its tons of R&D that goes behind it.

i would go up to $5k for a decent setup. for me thats $5k not $6k so some savings right?

I am SO glad that we don't have them at my station at the moment. I'm sure that it'll be nice to be in a new car, but the Vic is just fitting. I love my long antennas too. I tied colored string around the tip of the tallest one. The strings look so cute blowing in the wind as I cruise by.

You're safe Canuck. My Canadian buddy texts me almost daily to update me about his on-road exploits in his newly acquired E46 ///M3. Apparently he's about the tear the SMG transmission right out of the bottom of his car the rate he's beating on that thing up there. LOL! He also loves to talk to me about RCMP's and Canadian Custom's Agent debacles.

I intend to be in a 2016 M3. That being said I will try my best to test drive an M3 with and without the M-Adaptive Suspension. However, I am also patiently awaiting your test drive of an M3 with the Passive system so you can give your feedback and comparisons...

Great review and enjoy!

I just found this post and e-mailed my SA to add adaptive M suspension to my car right away, thanks Racer20. Excellent review. The adaptive suspension should work for me pretty well especially I don't intend to modify my car at all.

Are there any direct comparisons between the M-Adaptive Suspension v. Passive Suspension? Not on the track, but daily use.
