If we want to get technical those drilled rotors shed a lot of surface area, making it like a solid 355mm albeit with more clamping force. The drilling on the carbon package isn't as severe - there's much more surface to grab.

How is that even related to my comment about 380mm not being a BBK

I agree with your post re pads and fluid. I also have ss brake lines on mine and make sure to change the fluid after every session. Probably won't bother with SS lines on the F80 though as, if marketing is to be believed, braking is more suited to the track so pads/fluid should do it. |

I wouldn't equate 380mm drilled with 380mm slotted or solid. It's simply not the same thing. It's bling, like a MB C200 Sport.

Someone should tell Porsche since their cars have always stopped so terribly. You should warn them that the 918 will need a gravel trap to slow down...

Let's not compare the Porsche brakes to the BMW brakes. A base 991 is 400 pounds lighter than this porky, nose heavy BMW.

You made a stupid blanket statement about drilled discs being inferior. Stop with the darting to a new position every time your nonsense is called out, you are just embarrassing yourself further.

Two of my track buddies with C6 Z06s crack their solid rotors multiple times every season. I have not yet cracked one of the drilled rotors on my E92...

It is so much funnier reading these threads when the antagonist is on the ignore list! I am going to go the conservative route first. I want to see if the stock brakes can handle a track day before I throw down another $5k on aftermarket brakes. I have never understood the idea of carbon brakes on anything but a race machine. It would be one thing to throw down the $8k+ asking price initially if that were the only cost, but at 100k miles there is another $10k+ refresh waiting. NOPE.

Is that a TDI racecar?
I think you mean every Tesla. Yes, every Tesla blows up. The body pile is huge. Morgues in California are full with charred people.

I'm the only guy who's going to buy these brakes, track them, and give the community the results. I appreciate the counterpoints.
It's honestly the best feature of this car. I pity anyone who buys the executive package instead of the CCB. Just get an MB E550 and call it a day if you need all that jazz.

I will not allow myself to fall victim to the nonsense anymore. It's one thing to have a valid point, but validity is nonexistent in that black hole.

My pops crashed his R8 didn't go up in flames but the airbags didn't go off. Audi tried to say that the angle he hit the front of the car that the airbags shouldn't have gone off hard to believe. Airbags should go off in any crash at 90mph

You guys have no idea how fast a forced induction "executive German sports sedan" is. Fortunately for you, I've been living in your future since 2010. It's fast enough to eat brakes. Like, destroy them.
kinentic energy = 0.5 * mass * (velocity^2) A heavier car isn't that big of a deal. Adding 10 MPH on the front straight increases the energy by 25%. You can annihilate brakes this way. Ceramics are the only thing that can take the heat and dissipate it. If you have steel this fire goes right into your wheel bearings and melts the grease:
