If you are all concerned because of the free standing flat screen is affecting your decision on the M3 and M4?

Then sorry this car (s) will not be for you.

Stopped me from spec'ing nav on my old car.
Honestly, both are pretty bad design. I dont like the double hump, but the new 3/4 interiors are pretty terrible quality with all the hard plastics and the tablet screen looks like an afterthought.

New M4 will DEF NEED full leather to hopefully mask some of the plastic.

Jeez, I wish BMW had a similar attitude towards people demanding it have a navigation screen in the first place.

At least it's not as bad as that hideous 991 display. We can be thankful for that.

My interior looks nicer than the pictures, sorry. Just because you wrap something in leather doesn't mean its now luxurious. Not to mention I would be a little bit pickier spending $20,000 more.

I had a '13 328i for a little bit and I actually feel the interior quality is better on my e92. There are lots of plastics used in the F8x

But then again what do I know, apparently if you have a e9x you're not allowed to criticize the F8x or you're a bitter hater with an outdated car

I also don't like how much longer the new design is, with the long hood

But I like the rear end A LOT better than the e9x

Looks very good, although the front 3/4 shot of the hood reminds me a lot of the Lexus ISF the way bulges. But exterior to me is good, interior is so so. I also think the interior of my e9x m3 is only so so.

Personally, I hate the interior design of the E9X, always have. Think it looks cheap. However on the F30, the design got better (except for that swooshy thing over the glovebox) but the materials got cheaper.

Sigh...

I have a fully loaded MY14 F30 335i, and the interior is light years ahead of the E90/92, including the M3s. Once you sit in it, you'll understand.

Granted its nowhere near as rich as the F10s, but, still WAY ahead of the e90 generation.

Pictures dont do it justice.

(Using a transflective LCD helps it look bright and sharp even when there is direct sunlight.)
+1- There is no one who has any design sense that can say the screen does not look stuck in as an afterthought.

You can see what it does to lower the overall dash, opening up space and making it much airier and brighter. And more modern.

Just hate that stupid crossover swoosh thing on the dash.

I have been in a half dozen of the new 3'ers and I can't disagree with you more. The new 3'er reminds me of my '08 135i. Nice, but not as nice. The e92 M3 interior feels and looks spartan - but high end.

Exactly! And again- NO ONE can say the display does not look like an afterthought- obviously driven by cost sayings and not design aesthetic

I like the new nav screen, a nice minimalist approach in my mind. I don't see how people can believe a screen so integral to the car is an afterthought...

I agree, the E9X interior is spartan and purposeful but it feels high-end. The whole car feels high quality with the righ heft and tactile feel in everything. The F30 is busier and "flimsier" with a more plastic lower quality feel. It's not really due to the screen but the overall impression. The F30 does have a plus in being a more up to date modern feel but it's inferior to the E9X M3 in being cohesive, purposeful, tactile and high-end. Hopefully the F8X will address much of this.

Different strokes for different folks.

Its good that an 8 year old design still feels fresh to you guys. I for one missed the driver centric dash, which the F30 has brought back.

Fresh was the advantage I gave to the F30...

OP I have been complaining about it from the get go. I really really really do not like it. People hate on the "hump" of the E92 but I like it the ways its tucked in. It just looks like a bolt on attachment on the F series.....One of the major flaws IMO.

Speaking of hideous idrive design, anyone see the AC Schnitzer idrive cover?

^^^This!

I, too, like the E9X Nav set-up much better than the "iPad on the dash" F-chassis set-up, BUT having been in my 335i for a few weeks, I can honestly say that it's growing on me (..I like it more than I did prior to owning the car). I surely won't let it hinder my F80 purchase either.

How is the F30 dash more driver centric than the E9x dash?
