Hi everyone! I've owned my 17 F80 for almost a year and I've put a whopping 4K miles on it. The previous owner did spark plugs at 29k (it's got 33k on it now)and all the maintenance is up to day. Should I get an oil change this year or is that a waste? I feel like once a year sounds right.

I like every 5K to make sure I haven't run out the additive package, and in case the oil oxidized any. Since I do oil changes myself it's economical to know I'll keep engine wear lowered. Buying all my stuff from FCP Euro gets me lifetime replacements.

Some run the factory TPT oil to 10K changes, but I'd only do that if it was moms car.

+1 for 3k mile oil change. I too am on E85.
If you're running pump gas, I'd do it at 5k miles.
Oil changes aren't that expensive or difficult to do so why not.

+1
2500mi changes on E85.
Sooner if your oil has a moonshine smell.
High boost E85 cars with big turbo/s gets OCI at 2K, per Kratos.

I do mines at least once a year or whenever CBC tells me. Usually it goes to around 8000ish miles and then it tells me to change it.

Every 5k miles. That's around 3 months for me, but I'd never skip the yearly oil change even if the car isn't being driven.

Yearly oil change regardless... take it in. Its easy to strip these the threads on these things and not worth the hassle for ~$99 service.

I sent an oil analysis + TBN in for Motul 300V 5w-40 while using a mix of full E85 and pump gas.

They recommended I go 5000 miles which is very surprising with the ethanol use and ester base. Wear numbers came back below average as well.

I'm sticking with Motul from now on

How many miles on your 300V? I switch to that with the new motor.

Please post a full page pic of your Blackstone.

5w-30 Motul 300V as recommended by Kratos for my new EVO turbos.

We find this M3 to be in good shape. None of the wear metals are elevated compared to averages, and in fact, they're all quite a bit lower. That's perfect, since this oil was only in use for 1,600 miles. The far right column is based on S55s after a 4,700-mile run. We think that would be a reasonable goal for your next oil run, if you'd like. The 5.2 TBN shows plenty of active additive to spare and we didn't find any contamination along the lines of excess fuel, coolant, or dirt that might slow the engine down. We look forward to building trends for this BMW!

Would 300V be suitable alternative to X-cess for a motor driven hard (autoX, hill country sprints, etc) but not racing?

Yes, but make sure you warm up your motor before driving off. The 300V helps protect from shearing at high revs, but it's not loaded with additives like Fuel Efficient oil. Good that you're watching your Blackstone for a good OCI.

I recommend that you search for our member EDYCOL and see his recommendations. Read all his comments before asking. Guy is genius.
