I've been happy with The battery tender charger. https://www.batterytender.com/Batter...-12V-4A-Select

It was the cheapest option($50 from costco) and i've used their other products in the past with positive results.

There seems to be another BMW branded charger besides the BMW branded ctek one (part# 61432408594)

part # 82110087135
https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...b3J5IFBhZ2U%3D

I just tried the NOCO Genius 5, but it doesn't seem to work properly. It stops working with 'over voltage' warning. Scary.

Thanks for the recommendation; got it for $44 @ Costco Online. Brand website had the same one for $79 and they were unavailable.

Schumacher maintenance charger

I have for about 3 years now used the Schumacher SP1297, and the prior model before that for years as well. The SP1297 is selectable for lithium or AGM which includes lead acid. I have 3 in use now with zero problems, it’s a great charger that switches automatically to maintenance mode. Costs about $70 and Schumacher is offering 15% off on their website.

For those using the Battery Tender 4.5A, is there a big difference besides price in comparison to the CTEK 56-926 model? Or does it work perfectly well for our vehicles to maintain the battery?

ugh.

I looked it up. Lithium mode on Genius 5 is 14.6V. The red terminal under the hood of the F80 says max 14.4.

Working flawlessly. Plug it in and it knows which battery type to charge.

My NOCO 5 also stops working and the trunk opens automatically when the charger trips.
Ended up buying a CTEK

If someone who knows this topic would the costco one of:

https://www.costco.com/battery-tende...100679769.html

work well enough? I would like to just charge up my battery sometimes to make sure its all good. I do not need a $1500 bill for a new battery lol

Or should I bite the bullet and get the BMW one?
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...r/61432408594/

I would like to plug in my battery and charge it since its 5 years old and just top it off once.. I drive my car 1-2 times a week

Looking at the BMW one, it looks like it would work for regular car batteries as well? I would like to use it for my Jeep Wrangler as well, so that might be a better option?

Mentioned earlier in this thread, check this one out:
https://www.costco.com/duracell-4-am...100479359.html

Its cheap, and does lithium and standard/agm charging. Ive got it, works fine for me. I use it 95% of the time on a standard lead acid battery in my older car. Use it on the F80 every so often in winter if it sits for more than ~2-3 weeks. If you are driving 1-2x a week, you probably don't need to worry either way.

That sucks. I know they tried to improve the functionality for the revised Genius chargers, but this seems to make it not an option for cars like ours.

I have the older model Noco G7200 and in 12V LITHIUM mode it is rated at 14.2V, 7.2A, for 14-230Ah Batteries.
