New Lithium Ion Battery? Not being sold anymore?

Hey guys,

I have a 2015 M3 and it seems like my battery may be on its way out. Yet when I look for the battery in the normal vendors, getbmwparts and FCPeuro, they don’t seem to sell them.

Anyone know where I can get one besides the dealer and if so, anyone know of a good Black Friday deal? Or a possible alternative? Thanks!

Bmwpartpros has them. Looks like they’re just not available to ship

I’m sure someone has a comparable one like Napa?

Before you spend the $$$$ for a new battery, have you tried using a (hood) lith ion charger? Like the ctek one...

Thanks for message! I actually have a charger (Noco brand 16000) and it charges fully but then discharges over time. Is that ok for the battery?

Thanks for that. Hmmm would the local car parts store have our Lithium Ion batteries?

So I’ve been looking at the major places and checked my Napa reference and no luck for some reason. The model (M3/M4) doesn’t even populate with the battery finder tools.

Sorry man. Maybe need to ask your local dealer and see what’s up.

All the online dealer sources do say NLA so something is odd. Maybe a PN change that didn’t get rolled out to realoem?

Ran into the same issue with an i3 battery. The part # from realoem shows discontinued at all major online retailers: getbmwparts, FCPEuro, ECSTuning, Interstate (cross ref), Napa, etc.

Made a few calls to surrounding dealers, and they all had the battery in stock.

See if you can go with someone that has a BMWCCA discount.

Are you sure it’s your battery? Huge cost if it’s just a guess.
Mine is a 2015, 2014 build and no battery issues.

Pretty sure someone here and on FB is selling a lightly used Li-ion battery for a good price.

But like what BzsBimmer said, make sure it's the battery before replacing it, because Li-ion batteries are supposed to last up to 15x longer than AGM batteries.

If no dice on the stock battery, contact these guys: https://antigravitybatteries.com/ . I don't see that they have one for '15-20 F8X series but they will have something that likely works just fine, and will likely be cheaper than the BMW one...they are very responsive to emails....Porsche guys use them to reduce weight by getting rid of the god awful heavy AGM batteries...
