Boost Leak Testing PS2+ High Flow
I need to test for boost leaks. I've never done this sort of thing before. What is the best way to do this on my setup?

You most likely don’t have any boost leak, the issues lies in the turbos themselves. I had a similar issue with these last year and going with a new turbo kit fixed my issue. Sorry to be a downer but I was put in this same position. As long as you put the o ring in the chargepipe then it’s probably not a boost leak

Easier said than done. You'd need special tools or to rig something up.
Might be better to just inspect everything. All connections from the turbo outlet to the intake manifold. Also check the charger cooler for leaking fluid. The dealership might be able to do this test. That being said, I've seen people told they had a boost leak when they didn't many times |

All you need to do is cap off one side of the intake. Pressurize from the other using homemade PCV cap with a nipple, and an air source. You can gin something up from home depot-available materials for under $20 and 20 mins. Performing boost leak checks is part of maintenance with a turbo car, nevermind tuned or upgraded turbos. A general inspection will not show boost leaks, and while smoke testing is a useful tool, I'm a fan of boost leak checks with boost target pressures. Keep in mind if you're going through your intakes, they may not be rated (or attached well enough for) pressures like that, but start gentle and go from there.

Unlikely that it’s a leak. I had the exact same issue with my PS2+. Tuner told me there’s a boost leak. Car was in and out of workshops multiple times trying to source this “leak”.
In the end switched to PS2 HF and everything was okay. |

All I did was cap off the turbo side intake with a rubber PVC cap with hose clamps. Then I have a boost leak tester that is just a pvc cap with a air fitting drilled into it. Capture that in a silicone coupler with hose clamps. Put on where the pasenger side intake goes into that pipe with pcv hose. Send 30psi into it. Done. p.s. make sure you take oil cap off so pressure doesnt bleed past the rings. You'll feel it come out of there it's actually kind of wild how much air and pressure is sent into the pcv/valve cover system.
Although I will agree there has been some funny business with PURE turbos and WGDC, which I assume is the basis of this theory that there is a leak via your tuner or yourself.

By chance did you ever find the source of the leak? Carry Jordan is also requesting me to do a boost leak test reflecting higher WGDC. I have Pure Stage 2 HF

Also curious here. Car is currently in the shop trying to determine the source of a boost leak and initial signs pointed to the j-pipe vacuum fitting, but feels a little odd for the problem to have just popped up. My setup is building appropriate boost, just very slowly and then hits my boost target about 1k rpm slower than before.
New j-pipe gets in later this week so we'll see if that ends up being my issue but i'm curious how this thread all netted out.

Pure Stage 2 HF Leak
I'm also trying to source a leak per tuner Carry Jordan. Seems to be a common theme here. I have checked the EWG's via ISTA and everything is withing spec, boost leak done, no leaks. Now WHAT? Does anyone else have any results to the leak? Carry Jordan mentioned he is concerned about the turbos over spinning.
Thanks. |

Glad this popped back up actually since I was able to fix my problem - forgot about this thread.
I got a new j-pipe and fitting for that little outlet from the side of the J-pipe as mine was cracked/leaking. It indeed was a source of a leak but it wasn't the only issue I had. My Stg 2+ were building boost really slowly and we kept thinking it was a boost leak somewhere due to the behavior but it ended up being an issue with the front turbo. Pulled it and it had a ton of shaft play. Replaced them with Mosselmans and the car was all good to go again.

**Update** Boost leak test was performed in the garage and signaling that T-Bolt clamps were a clear necessity. Shot my PVC cap almost through my garage wall So for the big boost noobs out there T-Bolt Clamps!! Bost leak fixed, found, and tune completed from Cary.
