traction problem

after installing downpipes and switching to map 2 I'm having a traction problem at 3rd and 2nd gear. I've noticed it when i was roll racing 50 or 70 at the begining it went hard then traction sign shows up and my rpm stays still at 4500 rpm and sometimes again at 6000 once i hit 4th gear it runs normally.

so the problem is that i need to change my tires? or too much boost or some m4 safety stuff.

when i was using map 1 i had no problem with 3rd gear i just loose traction and my rpm goes on without stoping for a less than a sec.

sorry for my bad english

I don't think that is very sound advice.

Loosing traction is one thing at lower speeds, but in upper 3rd gear/4th gear, you do NOT want wheel spin going close to triple digit speeds. It can snap loose on you and be unrecoverable.

Get stickier tires I used to have that issue I got wider and sticker tires R888 or cups help, and all that sand doesn't help with traction either :P

Tires, alignment and suspension are key to great traction. Pirelli Trofeo R are excellent. We run them on our 1000hp 997 Porsche turbos on the street and they do really well. They won't last long though but those are the tradeoffs.

This is absolutely on point. If you have ever had the car unexpectedly break loose at higher speeds, then you know... If you have not had this happen, then be careful and leave MDM on. Just like TRZ06 said - it can snap loose - and it happens quickly and violently and it is difficult to recover from. I had this happen in my M5 some years back and I will never forget it. It makes me really hesitant to be full throttle with TC off during gear changes.

This really interests me, as I plan on getting Ohlin R/T coilovers pretty soon and will be doing a "street performance" alignment as well soon.

It would be amazing if those two changes increased rear traction and front-end bite

Do you have a JB4?

If so you can limit max boost on lower gears

OBDII In Dash Menu
'***************************************

'0 map menu, map shown on tach (TACH shows Map)
'1 Active Sound MUTE. (Tach = 0 (off/don't mute) Tach =1 (disable active sound))
'2 Boost gauge on fuel, scaling in dash is 0 to boost safety setting, turns on when gas pedal is pressed 50% or more and turns itself off when you resume low throttle use. (Tach = 0 (off) Tach =1 (on))
'3 LED MAX brightness mode. For those with factory LED headlights this option brightens HALO during nighttime operation. (Tach = 0 (off) Tach =1 (on))
'4 OBDII Diagnostic Code Delete. (Tach = 0 (off) Tach =1 (on))
'5 1st gear boost limiter. (Tach = boost cap / 3)
'6 2nd gear boost limiter. (Tach = boost cap / 3)
'7 3rd gear boost limiter. (Tach = boost cap / 3)
