want to reduce the gap between tires and fenders, but..

not sure if I should post this here or over the wheel/tire section. anyway, I want to reduce the gaps but want the same or more clearance for the front bumper.

my research points to getting tires with thicker sidewalls. So instead of 35, get 40 which should add approximately 5mm to the clearance to the bottom of my front bumper, and reduce the gaps (between tires and fenders) by also 5mm.

is this the best way to go about doing this?

This will change the handling characteristics of the car. It could make the car softer and handle with less precision.

Thanks for your input, Ive never thought of that. Do you think the difference is that significant given its just a 5mm difference?

I put on acs springs which doesn't lower very much, about an inch up front, with a lip on a steep driveway, doesn't scrape often.

Everything else aside, your front tire will kiss your front fender liners at a diameter of 26.2-26.3in or above. You can get a heatgun and rework 2-3 small rubbing hotspots where the liners should be pushed back a bit. The front tire diameter of 26.3in should be your upper limit though.

i actually have a brand new set of eibach lowering springs right now, they would have a very subtle drop. but ideally, i need a solution that reduce my fenders gap by 0.75 - 1 inch, while not losing that much for the front clearance.

I went from 255/35 and 275/35 PSS to 265/35 and 285/35 PS4s. Huge improvement in handling and feel as well as it actually significantly closed the gap you are talking about without lowering. The stock tire sizes are stretched this reducing sidewal height but wider once have a square side wall which actually looks a bit better on the car and gap does not look as bad

I'm lowered on Swift springs, with 255/35 and 285/35 tires. My gap in the front is still slightly greater than in the back, similar to oem. Just lower. They should've called them "Stiff" springs though, because they definitely are. Although that's what keeps me from rubbing in the back too. Hopefully you can see in the gaps in the pics. Overall I'm a fan.

Stock suspension. This car has no mods except for the axle back exhaust

It is the Competition Pack which I believe is slightly lower than the Non Comp

That's true. The Comp pack is 5mm lower in the front compared to the Base model

i see, learn something new everyday. so i ended up with tires 265/40/19 front and 285/35/19 rear. ima see how the gaps will look like once i mount them new tires, then i'd decide if i should install the eibach springs or not. i'll update with photos so everyone can see for more reference.
