im sure this is answered somewhere but i could seem to find it. What is the difference between flashing from id4 ->id6 and doing an id6 retrofit?

I mean it's 250ish for the flash and 1200+ for the retrofit, so im guessing there is some sort of difference

EVO iDrive 4 has 2 GB ram. This is the only difference, but we have a stable solution that doesn't reboot or lag. Other than that you won't be able to retrofit Touch screen to EVO iDrive 4.

Had a great experience getting the GTS DCT flash and fullscreens carplay with kuba

Easy to speak to and very responsive throughout the whole process. Would 100% recommend for a fraction of the price from BMW connect. [IMG][/IMG]

It means you can use it, but you mean need to connect directly to WiFi, or add WiFi antenna to get the best CarPlay experience

So I have the luxury of having upgraded my 2019 M2C's CarPlay to fullscreen via coding, but my 2018 X3 still has the split screen format.

I was going to upgrade my X3 without giving it more thought, because everybody insists the fullscreen version is so much better, but I’m not so sure…

Has anybody covered the downsides of going fullscreen?

1. Do the newer BMW iDrives come from factory with fullscreen CarPlay activated? If they haven’t, it might indicate whether overall it is better to go fullscreen when you have the ability to do so.

2. Do any of you regret going to fullscreen? Sure, it’s great to have more display area for maps, and maybe for music, but the problem is now I find anything I needed to touch on the screen that is in the upper right corner, is a lot more difficult to reach… And a part of me wants to go back to split screen because of that.

No regrets. Full screen mode uses the dead space on the corner. All my other cars with CarPlay came with full screen mode. Everything looks better in full screen CarPlay
