Product Suggestions for Wheel Cleaning

Severe Brake Dust on our BMW X3MC's...

Here's how I took care of them on this wash... (I'm always testing and trying out new products to cut time on cleaning)

Products Used
Aenso Revolve Tire Cleaner
Aenso Isern Wheel Cleaner
Aenso Orbit Tire Dressing
Wheel Woolies Wheel Brush
Detail Factory Tire Brush
Detail Factory Wheel Brush Kit (great for inner wheel barrel)

Super Bad Brake Dust

The brake dust was so bad that I had to repeat the cleaning process a couple of times.

After

Wow!! Quite a bit of brake dust and dirt! Looks like she hasn’t been cleaned in quite some time. What are your thoughts on Aenso products? I’ve heard some good things about them, but haven’t had the opportunity to use them. Thanks for sharing Phil.

Yes quite a bit of summer driving and road trips for the family.

Aenso is great give them a go I think you will enjoy them.

Will be swapping out the brake pads to Isweep IS2000 let's hope they reduce the amount of brake dust.

Switching out the brake pads should definitely help. BMW oem pads tend to give off quite a bit of dust, especially the ones they use on ///M vehicles.
Thanks Phil.

Any suggestions for wheel cleaner for really tuff brake pad dust? I run track pads and the brake dust feels impossible to get off my wheels. The strongest i've used is Chemical Guys Iron Decon and that is not enough.

Sonax wheel cleaner is great with Griot's in a close second.

I would try either Sonax or P&S Brake Buster, with a good wheel brush. How often do you clean your wheels? You may have to clean your wheels more than once if there is a heavy accumulation of dust.

Thanks for the suggestions. I clean them weekly. Ill initially clean them with Diablo wheel cleaner, then second round of Iron Decon. I do use a wheel brush but the end result is brake dust baked onto the wheel. Maybe 70% of the dust is gone but the other 30% is still on the wheel lip and in the spokes.

Whatever cleaner you use you should really ceramic coat them once they are clean. It's a time-consuming process, but well worth it and will make cleaning your wheels after future track days much, much easier.
