Word of warning on driving down to Autobahn CC - the bridge on Brandon Rd is closed this week, and Patterson Rd from Brandon to Laraway is also closed until further notice. I was at the track last weekend and be forewarned that most GPS directions are incorrect. I suggest heeding the directions as published by ABCC on their web site (which I have slightly modified to capture what the road signs actually say):
From the north: I-355 to I-80 west, EXIT 132 Chicago St. (Rt 53/Rt66). Head south on Chicago St. to Laraway westbound to CenterPoint Way south. From I-55: Exit at Arsenal Rd. east to Baseline Rd (also called Elwood International Port Rd.) north to Millsdale Rd/Centerpoint Way, east to Autobahn. See you there. I'll be driving my Cayman S on the track on Saturday. I would love to take the M4 but BMW CCA does not allow convertibles in their track events unless fitted with a roll cage, even if the convertible has a hard top.

According to the instructions sent to me by the Autobahn guys, we should take this route:
I-55 south to Arsenal Rd. east to Baseline Rd. north to Millsdale Rd. east to Autobahn. Seems like Brandon Bridge might be closed. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Burn...d41.454908!3e0 |

This was the quickest car show I have been to. Got there a bit early, family and I walked around. Had to leave early as well because the home delivery showed up much sooner than scheduled time. I didn't see any familiar cars from the pictures. Only talked to a couple of guys from BMW Chicago car club. I'm going by myself next time, so hopefully could stay longer and meet everyone.

I was @ burnham at 9.45 and there were 3 cars. We waited till about 10:05 and set out with a group of 6; I was the only f8x.
No body missed much of anything unless they wanted to track. The track was a bit wet too, but nothing unbearable. I ended up leaving within 30 min after arriving at autobahn for an emergency call from work. I'll be tracking the car in BMW CCA's event next month. It'd be the first time on the track for me since my Miata days in college. Anyone thinking about joining? |

Hey Guys,
We had about 7 people show up at the harbor this morning. Kind of a crappy day and not much to do at the track so we left after 30mins as well.
I'm the E46 Vert guy. Nice meeting everyone that went today! We should do a cars and coffee some time, everyone! Last edited by RickP; 05-16-2015 at 07:45 PM.. |

Well this was a bit of a failure... Other than myself, only two other cars were present at 9:35AM. I ended up leaving for the ChitownM Dyno Day in St. Charles instead.

As noted in an earlier post I am a member of BMW CCA, and took part in the track event on Saturday. I'm not sure what event next month you are referring to - the Windy City Chapter of BMW CCA doesn't have another track event this year. Perhaps you're referring to the Badger Bimmers chapter? They have two dates scheduled at Blackhawk Farms raceway this summer (June 15 and August 3, both of which are Mondays) and they also run an excellent DE at Road America in September (though if you're a novice I would not recommend that as your first track day). As for me - my next event is a 3-day Road America event this weekend with the Porsche Club.

I just recently joined the BMW Windy City Chapter and although I haven't been to any events other than Vintage Fest last year, I like the Roundel magazince they send out every month. |
