Interesting. How solid has it been for you? Is there any chance of failure?

I own a bike shop (we sell Trek and Cannondale, shameless plug...) and this sort of information is very handy! I haven't seen those though, who makes that option? Just suckers that somehow lock down, and then any tray (Yakima/Thule/Rocky Mounts)?

It's been very very solid. No issues at all. And chance of failure will be user inflicted I believe.

Girlfriend owns a bike shop (we sell Specialized exclusively, shameless plug...) and we haven't had a single issue. Did 140mph with my bike on top and it was still there when I parked.

I have the Talon, which is the triple suction cup unit up front and the single on the back with the strap (comes with one extra suction cup in case one of them fails).

Yep, I am about to make the purchase of a Talon SeaSucker as well.

Can't wait to actually bring my M to the trails now.....

Used to have a Yakima on the back of my Accord, but hated the marks it left. Going SeaSucker all the way now.

I would recommend anyone running SeaSuckers to clear bra their CF roof, just in case.

Did you ever get a reply from Seasucker? I was planning to reach out to BMW NA.

Nice! Have you tried putting your dual suspension MTB on it? I have a Santa Cruz Blur LTC that weighs about 28 #s and was planning to get a Talon to mount on my F82. Any issues with the suction mounts on the CF roof? Also, do you recommend getting the ladder strap rear wheel mount- how does the standard velcro rear wheel strap hold onto a thick MTB tire? Thanks for posting!

Wouldn't this cause a potential failure? Couldn't the bra, which is essentially a sticker, peel up in an area and break suction? I'm very curious about this. I have the Mini Bomber for my SS F80 and considering wrapping my roof in gloss black.

Haven't had a failure or lost any suction. Fingers crossed.

I never mounted the Nomad because I sold it shortly after picking up the M3. I did have one of the suction cups come loose in the front but it was my fault. I find it better to spray the suction cups with some water before mounting it. Just gives it a better seal and I always have cleaner in my car so I wipe the roof after every use. I prefer to keep my front wheel in the car. One less thing to have to mount.

what's the verdict on the seasucker now that folks have had it on the cars for a few seasons worth of riding?

also, is there something to keep the crank from spinning backwards and smacking the roof? just velcro it to the chainstay?

thanks,

They're going to work anywhere with an even surface. Hell, I use to use them with my old NSX (out of absolute necessity only though). With that being said, those things still have their flaws. If you're going to be transporting constantly then I would look into a different solution.

I think this looks great. I had the BMW rack on my 335 and I never left it on because the wind noise was so high at speed. This is portable and easy to store, probably perfect for my occasional use.

You heard noise because it was a crappy rack. Run a Whispbar kit and you won't hear anything unless there is a bike/kayak/whatever on it.

It was the BMW rack, which is a Thule Aero. Is that crappy? Doesn't matter anyway as the M4 has a carbon roof.

Still no problems. Love it every time I use mine, not necessarily for the ease of use and etc, but also because of how badass it looks haha

Awesome! I finally got mine this week- Seasucker was backordered for 4-6 weeks on the Talon. Can't wait to try it out!

Any concern on how long the suction cups will last? Seems to me, suction cups generally aren't made to last for years.

And then you just hope that your bike isn't up top when the cups do fail...
Ouch!
