If you didn't change the rotors, did the new pads bed in nicely on the old rotors? |

The front pads and rotors were replaced within the first 4 years and under 50k miles so we’re covered under warranty/service plan that came with the car from new. The rear pads I had to pay for and they said I didn’t need rotors and they have been fine and did bed in with the old rotors. I’ve had no problems with them.

Unless I see something to that effect on an OEM (BMW/Brembo) letterhead, I still believe you can. But Hey, If you've got the cash, Go ahead - every 15K miles - Better safe tan sorry! Just my $0.02

I just swapped mine out at 62k. There was plenty of pad left. I think I could have made 80k easily.

I have nearly 75k on the originals with the computer stating that my fronts are good to 140k and rears to 120k. I don’t need to use my brakes much if I’m paying attention. Having over performance brakes is a blessing in bad traffic. When I have to replace brakes, I expect it will include rotors too.

Drilled and slotted rotors can be re-surfaced, technically, but this is not recommended. These are two different things. Can you do it? Yes. Should you do it? Probably not, unless you are strapped for money.
Here is a lengthier explanation. Also, most shops won't do it, because you have to do it slowly, or they do not want to take chances with these type of rotors. They are a PITA. Machining also ruins the finish, so customers might bitch about the work. Not worth the hassle. |

I'm at ~37,700 miles on my 2016 M4. The front brakes and rotors were replaced under the 4-year free maintenance plan (the last year that it was 4 years and also the last year they would replace brakes/rotors, IIRC).
However, my car has been tracked extensively (26 days in 4 years as of March last year, the last time it was tracked due to COVID) and I'm on my third set of Pagid track pads, which are only used at the track.

I have 40k on the car and the computer shows the pads have plenty of life, but when I come to a stop, at certain pressures the car screeches like as if I have no life left. Is that the rotors? always embarrassing lol
