ICM Swap Coding / Flash Issue
I am trying to perform an EDC retrofit (old thread: https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2048417 ) and thought I'd open a new topic since the issue is now different.
I swapped in an ICM from an EDC chassis and after performing the CAFD injection ESYS showed the following: I performed the following steps as found from shawnsheridan, and also a YT video outlining HWEL differences (notated below in bold) Quote:
The errors like pedestrian warning failure, etc, in the car still persist. Some like the steering warning went away after the flash, so at least the car is still drivable for the moment. Any input here? Thanks! |

After starting and driving a car a few times the errors have gone away except for the original EDC error and I'm still not seeing VDC communication from the FEM. Moving this back to the old thread. If someone has input on why the ICM still shows like this in ESYS please let me know.

Yes, it appears in red in ISTA. I see some information about opening the ports in Tool32 but I do not know how to actually connect it to the car, I've never used it.

EDC seems to be working, but I am seeing "DSC Off" in the Kombi next to the gear indicator and can't get the message to go away. I still have the following error messages:
480116 - ICM Carrying out ride height adjustment (possible ICM coding issue?) 801C60 - ZGM: No Flexray initialization E6841F - EDC: Flexray: Line Fault (checked and verified with an oscilloscope at the connector that the Flexray signal at the VDC appears perfectly normal) The car works just fine otherwise, I haven't tested to see if DSC is actually off. Pressing the DSC button shows the traction light turning on and off but the "DSC Off" message stays the same. Doing the ISTA initialization just closes the extra ports. I tried doing the following again but it made no change: steuern_flexray_pfad -> 2;1 steuern_reset_learn_flexray On my car ports 0x0, 0x1, and 0x3 were open. 0x2 was closed. I see some forum posts for the 5AG retrofit stating to open 0x3 as that's pin 29 and 30 on the FEM, but I opened 0x2 and used those same pins for the VDC as that's which pins the wiring diagram in ISTA shows. |

I had the same problem after each initialization with ZGW the ports closed so I was forced to flash the ICM module and after that no more problems
also check if the bridging is already done on the FEM module location 11 to 21 location 12 to 22 |

For the ICM error, I believe it is because I have the LED Adaptive lights so it is actually reading the LEVEL SENSOR not RIDE HEIGHT, even though that's what the error message says. I ran the ISTA job, measured and entered the wheel height, all is good there. For some reason I still can't get the ZGW Flexray Initialization to go away. After putting in the loop to terminate port 0x02, I retried running steuern_reset_learn_flexray and that seems to have gotten it to where I can run the initialization without it closing the port again. However, even after running initialization the error still shows up. I'm guessing there's something else that needs to be done there, just not sure what. I already wrote the 2VF option to the VO on the car itself a while ago, verified it's still there, so not sure why that persists. I'm guessing there's another job to run on the ZGW to get it to behave correctly? |
