Track day pad question, front only or front and rear swap?
I’m looking to upgrade the pad compound on my car. I have a track day coming up in August and a trip to the mountains in October and I want some more aggressive braking capabilities. I’m planning on going with Ferodo DA2500 pads but not sure if I need to worry about changing the rear out as well. Do you think it’ll be beneficial or needed or will fronts only be ok?

Depending upon which track you are visiting and your driving abilities the DS2500 might be a bit weak for the track. Assuming you run in the Novice class/group? Not trying to be insulting but given the weight of the F80 the DS2500 might not be capable enough.

I’ll be in novice instructed group and I’ve got 3 previous track days under my belt. Those previous days were at Barbers in a modded 2015 Mustang GT with factory pads. I never noticed fade on that car when on track and it’s a heavier pig than the F80. Based on that info which pads would you recommend? |

Review this chart if you are going to stay with Ferodo.
https://pages.ferodoracing.com/produ...ing-brake-pads I'd get some feedback from people who have run at AMP and what they recommend that works best at that track. The DS2500 is a good dual-purpose pad, but with everything dual-purpose, you usually have to make a compromise somewhere. |

My current or pads are in good shape still so I guess I could swap them out for a dedicate track day pad and avoid the compromises, although I don’t know that I could take advantage of a very serious track pad considering I’ll still be running street tires. |

I actually found a good deal on some pfc 08’s on here. Hoping to snag those and I’ll just swap back and forth.

I have PFC 08’s on my M4 that hasn’t been to the track in over a year, so I’m running those on daily driver. Only draw back is some pad squeal and pad slap.
For me they have good cold bite.

How’s the dusting compared to stock? If it’s not too bad and the squeal isn’t too bad I might daily them as well.

Were amazing on the track though and proved to be pretty durable running very hot on a 100F day. If you haven't done it before, it's pretty easy to swap pads in and out. Tons of good tutorials online. |
