Possible new M4 comp owner questions, San Marino blue how much?
Hi there,
I'm going to be changing my 2014 Gran coup for a smaller sports car. I've tried out a new S5 and try a TTS tomorrow for 24 hours. I also tried a M3 comp and was blowin away hence why I am also considering a new M4 comp. My dealer is giving me 24hour trial in a M3 Comp. I just want to see if I could live with the harder ride. I've also been working out figures. I really like San Marino Blue. Does anyone know how much this is to add? My dealer is checking and thought it might be £3K-£4K. How does that sound? |

How does 3-4k sound? Dreadful!
Lovely colour but I think that's far too strong for a colour that is standard on other M cars so not a bespoke colour. I wouldn't want to pay more than £1000 myself.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Well I'd stretch a bit more. Not £3k

I had a spec/price sent to me last month for a pre-built M4 in San Marino and it listed the following:
BMW Individual Paint - San Marino Blue £1,925.04 |

This was a mix of Dealer contribution and BMW contribution. I was next door at Mercedes prior to this speccing up a C63S Coupe and they wouldn't go past 2% discount - and this was me being an existing customer who had bought a new Edition 507 from them 3 year prior - as well as a new SLK for the missus. |

Good luck with this. You'll need to wait on bmw coming back to the dealer with availability & cost. I had a complaint with BMW regarding individual paint cost or rather the inconsistency. I was quoted £3990 + vat for Ferrari red On F83 After dealer had specced m3 in FR for £1990+ vat a couple of months before.

Aye she looks fab! Will see what my dealer says re the cost.
I tried a M3 Comp last week and have the same car for 24 hours on Sat after I test drive a TTS. Just now I've a 6 series gran coup and the M3 comp was so much firmer. well I expected it to be firm but maybe too firm. Saying that today I was out in a pals M4 (not a comp model) + running on 18" winter tyres. I felt it would be quite easy to live with day to day. How do you find the your car/s ride & comfort day to day? |

If you are dead set on a Merc go further afield to Edinburgh, have only heard good things from other AMG owners. My M4 is scheduled for a Week 10 delivery - but John Clark Aberdeen already had a build slot reserved when I went in to order mine. The build is meant to commence in February but no one came back to confirm. The LCI was released about 10 days after I paid my deposit so I did consider cancelling and re-ordering but the additional couple of £k for the new car plus missing the April 1st change in Road Tax didn't seem all that appealing for a different set of front and rear lights. If there was engine tweaks and increase in power it would have been a no brainer. |

Another question. The optional "carbon-fiber interior trim finisher with black chrome highlight" is it carbon-fibre look or real carbon fibre?

I've got a TTS tonight. It's riding on 19's. If I went for a TTS I'd spec the 20" wheels. From the feel of things tonight I think there might not be much in it between the TTS & M4 Comp on 20. Tomorrow I try a S5 again for an hour then I have a M3 comp for 24 hours. Hopefully Sun or Mon I will of made my decision.
One other question. Is there much difference between a M4 comp & M3 comp with regard to ride & comfort? My dealer doesn't have an M4 comp to test drive hence why I'm test driving a M3 comp |

It's the same chassis, the same car, just a different body.

Thanks for help folks. I've been out in a S5, a TTS and a M3 Comp today. My favourite is still the M3 comp. The TTS was good also. The S5 was good however it just didn't feel so sharp or quick mid range as the TTS. In fact all cars are very good. The weather is truly lousy so it's been a sedate drive. The M3 comp feels so settled though twisty bits. I was going slowly but just the balance and lack of roll was great. I'd say it was also little louder, if at all louder than either of the other cars at 70Mph. The suspension also felt quite liveable for day to day driving or motorway cruising. All in all I think I edge closer to a purchase.
One question. I know the M3/M4 have both just had a face lift. When do you think the next M3/M4 will appear? |
