This is insane!! At least it is happening with low miles. And if this keeps happening to stock cars, if it happens to a tuned car there is evidence to support the tune did not caused it

Has anyone heard of one spinning running bootmod3? Ive been running bm3 stage 1 93oct for 2k miles on a 2015 DCT and have had no issues. After winter I plan on having the Vargas fix installed for peace of mind.

A couple recent reports of 2018 cp with low mileage having sch.
You'd think they'd fixed the issue by now. Strange that there are 2015 with high mileage without issue. Maybe it had to do with driving habits. Kickdown from high gears. I read that its better to do manual mode so not to do large kickdown in auto mode. |

It's not about kick downs and it's not about driving hard. It just happens. I was got 60mph when my crank hub spun. It's just a fault in the car, the bolts are just not torqued correctly.

There are stories from the other end too. I had a dinan stage 3 tune running on E30% with bolt ons on my '18 ZCP. I used to launch my car 4-5 times a day (yes, EVERY DAY) and did burnouts, powerslides and harsh kickdowns. I've gone through 4 sets of rear tires on my car and need to replace my R888 soon. I upgraded to bootmod and went custom E85 tune and while tuning / dialing it in, did 60 to 130 rolls at least twice a night for 2 months straight. This included many enthusiast friends who wanted a piece of the BMW (and consistently lost, might I add).
I figured I either have an unnaturally strong crank hub or I'll be posting "SCH ##$!!" at anytime. If it goes, I got my money worth. |

Yeah, it seems pretty random. Some of the user's builds on this forum are pretty hardcore yet they have no issues with SCH as NoMoreAudi has mentioned, as well as Richy Rich , although his seems to be a permanently parked fixture at AutoTalent as of late. If anyone would have an issue with SCH, I'd think it would be one of them.

I wonder how these cars are broken in as you reach the 1200 mile mark. I've been following the book, varying my revs, but no WOT and not above 5500. Easy shifts.

This is what I've been doing. After the 1200 mile service, I plan on testing launch control and opening her up a bit. And yes, I'll be using S3.

How much is this fix if one is out of warranty?
Do people typically find a used motor or are we talking about a rebuild? Either way...what $ are we talking about here to fix? |

Due to these issues, this will be the first car I've had in the past 20 years I won't be modifying engine/intake/exhaust wise. I'll be purchasing the extended warranty from BMW when my warranty runs out in June of next year. I love the car, and it's fast enough as it is. It's quite a bummer however as I don't want to screw with anything, not intakes, exhaust, etc. Nothing that BMW could use against me if something were to go wrong. |
