Noticeable downpipe gains?

I guess this thread is just me being excited but I知 getting my vrsf downpipes on Friday and was wondering what to expect. Only other mods so far are jb4 and intakes. Will I notice any difference or just a slightly different exhaust note? If so, what should I expect? Sorry I知 just excited! Merry Christmas to me!

20whp? Did you prove this yourself? The mid pipe dyno sheets I've seen usually include the downpipe (ie. Full exhaust compare to stock), which is where most of the power is picked up.

I should say at most 20whp. By running dps you will be able to run different tunes, which gives some extra hp. The hardware itself probably doesn't make much hp

Catless DPs are worth about ~10whp on stock turbo setups.

Still no power from midpipes.

Why are people so afraid of the smell? With my experience you only smell it if you`re standing behind the car, so whats the big deal

Downpipes made my M4 feel like a beast with JB4 map2 with 30% ethanol. Honestly smell was very minimal with the secondary cats on the midpipe. Now that I'm running VRSF single midpipe with downpipes, odor is very prominent but powerband has dramatically improved with very noticeable gains.

I'm sure you've driven behind a decatted car. It's f***ing annoying. Don't know if I hate that more or less than people swapping their head light bulbs for the blinding aftermarket ones that aren't meant for stock housings.

Plenty of people are more sensitive to the smell, including me. Even if the toxic vapors don't bother you personally, all it does is piss people off around you. Some people also have children, who don't want them exposed to the gases whatsoever - plenty out there from older semis and older vehicles.

No excuse to not have race cats. Nobody will feel the 15-20 hp difference at 500+ wheel, I promise.

Yes, and your lifespan will be diminished by 5 years exactly once you start smelling.

So choose wisely.

I知 quite annoyed. The place that agreed to do it, full well knowing it was catless (I specifically asked if they壇 do a catless downpipe), changed their mind after I had dropped off my car. Now they won稚 do it. Anybody have any shops in northern Ohio they recommend that can do this? Or any good step by step how to videos? Much appreciated.

Agreed 100%. Being 100% catless smells horrendous, it's actually embarrassing sitting in traffic, gassing yourself and all others around you. It also ends up covering your rear bumper with soot. If you keep the secondary cats, the smell is somewhat more tolerable provided you're in a ventilated area.

Some people like the sound, I think it sounds like ass.

Hi, so I just bought an M3 with no intention of MODDING the car since I'm not very mod saavy. But the M3 I bought has eisenmann exhaust and catless dps. My question is if I swap back on the stock downpipes will I pass smog in CA ? Also will the CEL go away once I put the stock down pipes back on?
