Nothing wrong with the OP choosing the RS5 over the M4, but some of you feel you need to justify to him why YOU think the M4 is better, as if you need to prove something. Lol.
This would be like us trolling the '67 Camaro forums.

LOL I hate Audi's in general so much, I could never bother to read them.

I'm a visual person, so for me to buy a car is hell anyway. Audi doesn't do any eye candy for me.

As for the fan boys, I love them to bits. It's great to see people exited about their toys, and the attacks made against others are the funniest shit here. Drama keeps these alive, so who am I, who stirring the pot all the time to bash them.

What I don't get, is that people forget that these are cars, and they are supposed to be fun. Each on their own way, and let's make fun of everyone who's wrong.

Some people who feel the need to go to a car forum to bash a car they don't like (for whatever their reason) are sad souls but very entertaining nonetheless. Sometimes the back and forth banter is fun for the fans as long as you don't let it get to you or take it too seriously.

Very well said. For about the last 15 yrs, I have jumped between Bmw and Porsche with a couple of Audi's thrown in. All have there pros and cons in some fashion but some check certain boxes for real enthusiasts. I have stayed with Porsche since 2008 after owning an e90 M3 for 2 yrs, jumped to a 997GT3 for a short time, only to move to a Audi S5. Very nice car but just didn't do it for me and ended up trading for an immaculate 996 Turbo. That was just over a year ago. So here I am now trying to decide between an M4 or Cayman GTS. The crazy thing is, my forever supportive fiancee tells me this morning, LETS GET BOTH!! We have the luxury of having 3 cars that check all the boxes. A 2014 Fiesta ST, an 07 Mazda MX5 hardtop cab, and the turbo. Now what do I do??

To use my favorite word in this language: Indeed.

That would be great to get both! I dd my A6 3.0T and the R8 is more of a weekend toy. Hands down best car I have ever owned is the R8; it is just a different level than any other car I have driven. The 997 Turbo I had was a hoot as well, but it did have a fair amount of turbo lag, and the handling, though very very good, could not begin to touch what the R8 can do. The Cayman, also being mid engine, is an absolutely fantastic handling car. It is amazing the amount of speed mid engine cars can carry through corners and in my experience they corner so flat it's amazing! If you are getting both, I would suggest getting the M3 due to the many advantages of having a four door versus having two coupes.

Have thought about an R8 for a variety of reasons, but just cant seem to get the numbers to work. The 997 turbo had crossed my mind but thats about it. I am thinking about getting back into racing and may simply free up one of the cars as I begin to wonder what do I truly need 3 cars for, but I do enjoy having that luxury.

I take your point, but on this thread I'd say it's naive to believe a word the OP says. The last few cars I've owned have been made by Audi, Porsche, GMC, BMW and Toyota so I'm certainly not drawn to one in particular but topics like this are clearly just trolling, and not even good trolling.

Agree, my buddy got one when they came out. It definitely feels bigger and heavier than an E92. RS5 engine and dual clutch are fantastic. I see the RS5 as a GT car. Almost a cheaper more sporty alternative to the 6-series.

Just to be sure we're on the same page, my comment is in relation to RMB's statement NOT the OP's statement.

Just test drove an M4, then RS5

I just got back from test driving a Bsm M4 with full black leather that had the executive package, led package, 19's, moonroof, dct etc. All i can say is wow this thing is a beast even from a stop light it just goes like a rocket i for see many speeding tickets down the road. I only got it over 5000 rpms briefly but the car had zero lag maybe just from my fingers shaking from adrenaline cause cops were out everywhere. The car only had 90 miles on the clock but i pressed it as hard as i could with everything in sport plus it didnt help the sa that went with me was clueless. I have zero regrets on getting the M4 and to make sure i test drove a 2014 audi rs5 right afterwards. I was impressed with the Audi but when using the paddle shifters with everything in dynamic mode the car seemed to have more lag than the M4 even when accelerating it did not seem like a naturally aspirated v8 engine. The fit and finish of the Audi was superb it just seems to have no soul and the fake engine noise in the cabin was worst than the M4. I may be going deaf because the complained about burp noise on this forum was worst in the rs5 than m4 when switching with the paddles. The rs5 in my eyes is a great cruising car but lacked the sportiness i was looking for and seemed very artificial. No offense to current audi rs5 owners you got a great car just not the sporty rawness and grunt the m4 gave me. Pictures are on their way the sa at Audi was great but not so much at bmw since he frowned on me taking pics so only have one of the ass.

Congrats, such a beautiful car... My friends is going through the same motions, torn between rs5 and m4. If the rs5 wasn't at the end of its cycle, I'd consider it too.

Well essentially the RS5 is the previous generation whereas the M3/4 is the new generation. The real challenge will be how will it do against the new RS4/5 and the Lexus RCF!
I don't think OPs dilemma is taking into account if it's comparing current gen cars against each other not that the MB, Audi and BMW models all come out at the same time. Fact is he likes the RS5 (troll or no troll) so good for him. He can join the RS forums and be done with it

Three reasons why I didn't even consider the RS5:

#1 no manual. This is a big deal for me, those who know me know that about me as well

#2 heavy V8 vs lighter more efficient V6 for a daily commuter this makes a difference for me

#3 I have a supreme, pythonic hard on for the letter M. Always have, always will. It was a dream for me unattainable until recently and so I decided to make it a reality.

Notes: I bought my S4 from the same dealership that is willing to sell me any Audi at $1500 off invoice. Yes, you read right. The company I work for is a supplier to Audi and as an employee I'm entitled to that discount. I also am friends with the Audi Finance manager and would get a very good deal for extras and loan rate.

Despite all this and despite the M4 being sold to me with ZERO discounts (my SA made this clear, I'm not even getting my USAA discount which I am fully entitled to) I'm buying the M4.

That's passion about BMW if I've ever seen it!!!
