Puma Case Experience

I took my car in because my front passenger brakes squeal when in reverse. It's really loud and embarrassing. The dealer took my car out for a drive and were able to replicate the sound. My advisor said they have to open a puma case and I have to get a loaner. This way he has time to diagnose and see what the puma case want the tech to do.



How long does puma case take? Can't they just replace the front brake pads since they were able to pin point the problem?

perhaps it wasn't the front brake pads as they suspected..

either way I'm subcribed to this thread as I have the same intermittent squeak/squeal while reversing intermittently.

They never checked my brakes. They heard the brake squeal and found which wheel it was but that's about it. That's what confuses me. I thought puma case is when they don't know what's wrong with the car.

it sounds like they don't know what wrong..they thought they did..but were wrong...hence the PUMA case

It is a method by which BMW advances vehicle issues up the corporate food chain when the local dealer/service department/master tech can not resolve the issue. Sometimes this requires a BMW engineer to travel to your local dealer to address or address by phone.

In reality, this is how your local dealer can be reimbursed for warranty work.

I've had brake squeal in reverse with every car with "big boy" brakes. It's just what Brembos do.

actually...I did perform a search (as I'm experiencing the same thing)...and not much came up about the squeal in reverse only..

and this isn't my first performance car and/or "big boy" brake set up...but thanks for your insightful input..

again..thank you for your insightful input..as your search includes "brembo" vs the OEM set up the OP and myself, and a few others have reported here on f8x posts...not to mention it lists non f8x models mostly...nissan, 1addicts...yes very helpful indeed...

The stock calipers are Brembo, to include the 135i brakes as well.

How you didn't know that is beyond me.
