Can you just ignore the valvetronic motor ticking?

There are many other posts relating to this issue but was there any consensus on it being ok to just not fixing it?Are there any reliability or performance issues if I don’t have the dealer fix it?
The ticking is intermittent and even if I can get the service dept to hear it,they might not agree or be capable of going that deep into a repair without screwing up putting it back together .
I also have seen some posts where after they replaced the valvletronic motor the ticking is still there or ticking differently. You have to wonder if they even fixed that one.

I just brought my car in for this issue recently,

They re-calibrated it and it hasn't came back on, if you need a video of the ticking, I actually filmed it and can send to you to maybe you can show your SA.

Let me know

I ignored it. I cant replicate it to my dealer, or anytime I want for that matter. Every once in awhile I'll get the tick when I open or unlock my car , and once I drive the car it may not come back for a few hours, days, weeks, months. It has been gone for the last 3 months for example, but I've heard it starting from 2 years ago.

For the benefit of service department debugging, and us knowing EXACTLY to what sounds you are referring, consider recording the ticking on a cell phone camera, and posting it on YouTube.

I got two intermittent issues fixed that way in my cars, including annoying fan ticking noise from F80 HVAC.

The ticking is the typical valvetronic motor that many of us experience.Im not unsure of what it is but was only wondering if it can just be ignored.Based upon how infrequent I hear it I will just let it ride.I hate service dept enigmas that become a question if you are imagining it.Since they don’t fix unless they can duplicate, I will wait until it is more frequent. So far it doesn’t seem to affect performance/reliability.

I just had it happen again after not hearing for over 6 months. I'm not going to worry about it. I don't think I've read any reports of folks having the valvetronic fail. Also, I'm curious if this has been happening in all F8x or if this is a 2017/2018 issue?
