No.

Simply because Shell only offers 91 in Quebec. I rather use PetroCanada 94 .

Ok but PC 94 has 10% ethanol, while Shell Nitro+ 91 has none. And frankly in day to day driving, haven't noticed much difference between either, except PC94 is more expensive

Costco here as well. It's on the top tier list. And it's conveniently on the way to and from work. Have not experienced any issues whatsoever.

Use shell 93 exclusively and go out of my way.

I work in fuel systems and have heard many times over from my our customers that shell is one of the best.

CA 91 is junk regardless - doesn't matter if it's shell, chevron, etc.

that's why i switched to E85...

I've only ever put Shell 93 into my M4. There are so many shell stations all along my route that its quite easy. I tend to go the same Shell each time. I think I've only filled up at one other station... in 9k miles. I don't run it to empty, maybe 1/4 tank at the very least. I don't intend to switch to another brand.

Well shell gasoline just makes your engine life much better over time the engine will start to build alot of gunk from cheap fuel stations that’s why i only use shell and also you guys probably haven’t used shell gasoline long enough consecutively to tell a difference its pretty much like a smokers lungs vs a nonsmoker the smoker is the cheap gas and the lungs your engine and alot of these off brand gas stations or gas stations that have everything on sale like 7-11 have water mixed in there gas because its cheap gasoline that comes from the same source and that’s why the price is much lower because the fuel grade is lower that means more profit for the gas stations. Shell gas stations can only buy gas from shell themselves thats premium grade fuel aka top tier and
It costs way more compared to other gas station brands other fuel companie owners will buy the cheapest fuel available to them and the franchise doesn’t restrict that they can get gas from any supplier shell gas station owners can’t do that and if they do that they can get shut down by shell and the owner would loose his contract with them

Let me drop some facts in here for some of the unaware:

BMW recommends Shell for financial reasons not because it is the ultimate gasoline.

That being said Shell is a good brand and you won't have any problems using it. I use it most.

All gasoline is essentially the same it's all about the additives and they aren't all that different from eachother. Stay away from low quality/small brands.

To add on: The biggest difference you'll see in gas quality has more to do with the station than the brand, though most bigger brands tend to do a better job of making sure their locations are kept up to snuff. A Shell station run by a cheap owner that doesn't change the filters will give you much more trouble than a cheap station run by a good owner.

Until I find anything that demonstrates otherwise, I consider Top Tier to be nothing but marketing. They have a standard that member stations need to meet but something tells me it's not a standard that *any* halfway decent gas would have trouble meeting. But for the cost of membership and an easily passed test, they too can put a sticker on their pumps that might attract a few customers.

Oh yea well I like BP gas because it's what bmw used to recommend plus it's British which reminds me of Austin Powers who is a groovy guy but he likely drives a jaguar and not a bmw and also jaguars aren't reliable but maybe it's because people put low quality gas in them and they break and also I like bmws more anyway so it doesn't bother me that jaguar owners use poor quality gas and now I am rambling and forgot to use punctuation

Use Shell V Power 93 exclusively. If I was somewhere unfamiliar and couldn't find one, then I'd search out an ExxonMobil or BP.

Good point. Recently a Shell gas station on my commute route broke a bunch of cars due to bad gas. I've heard people complain about that station in the past.

Ironically, the only time I filled up and got water in my gasoline was at a Shell gas station on my way to the track. The name on the station is not always a guarantee what you will get. (FYI, I worked for Shell international for 20 years) I still use Shell as well as most other tier 1 gasoline.

I’m in a unique situation because of my location. I could go to a Shell station, but it would cost me about $7 per gallon. The government has an arrangement with the Agip stations to sell 95 octane fuel for about a dollar per liter, so it’s a much better deal. My M3 has only had Agip fuel since I bought it.

I’ve used Shell V power 93 exclusively until abt 1 month ago. I decided to try a Sunoco station near me and started getting detonation under heavy accel and higher RPM’s. Just filled back up with the V power and it smoothed everything out. Probably a bad tank of gas but I’ve learned my lesson to just stick with what works for me.
