Why do people think the car is faster after 1200mi service?

They only change fluids and activate launch control.Other than better launching capability ,is there anything done that might improve performance ? I assume some say it's faster because they are driving it at full potential as opposed to limiting their driving to adhere to break in procedure. Will the exhaust sound different as it gets more miles on it?

Yes, people only say that when they are misinformed or perhaps there are the odd cases where folks consciously prescribe to an irrational belief system whereby they ignore facts in favor of trying to will something to happen via mental concentration.

That said, as the components of the car loosen a bit and wear in, it is possible that the car does make a bit more power. Not necessarily likely that this would be perceptible though. And furthermore this phenomena has nothing to do with the break-in service.
