I edited my OP to bring more precision. According to ETK, a new block PN was introduced starting with December 2015 production. There is no CP specific block PN specified for the CP, so it is safe to assume all cars built Dec-2015 onward are getting the upgrade.

Not sure why you are saying this is "ridiculous". Cars gets upgrades/revisions all the time.
Thanks for verifying. I'll amend my statement a bit as well - it's ridiculous in the context that this ~70k car has been out for only 1.5 MY cycles and has already had more changes than the e9x did over its whole 6 MY lifespan.

So in that regard, I'm pissed that I just didn't wait another 6 months to buy mine. I know it's mostly my fault, but again I didn't think such radical changes would occur so soon. I suppose that retrofits would ease the pain here, but it looks like even that may not be happening.

The mantra used to be "wait until the 2nd model year". I guess now it's "wait until the 3rd or 4th model year".

Honestly, I have no clue why that is. It is mentioned only in one single document so far and the mention is rather discreet (in brackets). Is it just a slip in terms of communication? Is it marketing banking on an upgrade that is happening regardless of CP to promote the CP? Was the bedplate redesign really required for the additional power and BMW decided to put it on all cars to simplify logistics? Etc... It is all open for speculation IMO.

I am really curious to find out in detail what was changed on that famous bedplate .

Yeah it was also mentioned to my SA when he was at the Thermal event. Specifically for the ZCP. But I agree it wouldn't make sense for BMW to be using two different bedplates in the same engine CP or not. It does make me wonder if cars built before this change can take advantage of the ZCP tuning.

I may have fallen out of the loop on this, but my sources haven't indicated anything in regards to a bedplate change (perfunctory or not). In my last correspondence with them about two weeks ago, they were steadfast that the ZCP components would be fully retrofittable.

Since we only observed this on one source document from Canada, then I have to wonder about its validity. Definitely something to keep an eye on though.

The source document is not from Canada. It is one of the attachments on the press release page of the international BMW press site.

Ok. The response from my contact makes more sense then:

"Part number change? Maybe. Change to the actual composition of the part? No."

That is where I remember seeing it a few days ago. It was not "replaced", it was just removed.

I really wish one of the BMW reps monitoring this board would clarify this. Miscommunication at any level is not good for the consumer or the business. I just bought my M4 in November (ED) and I would really like this clarified however minuscule of a change it was.

Anyone know if you can delete the rear and side sunscreens on a fully built M3 CP? Not sure if I want the extra weight considering it's a Competition Pack.

Side sunshades are included w/ Full Leather on an M3. Rear sunshade is an option.

Thanks for the prompt reply! Any idea what the rear sunshade might weigh? I'm trying to decide if I want it in my CP build or not.

Nope I don't. My 15 has it and my new 16 ZCP order does not. I never put it up on the 15 because I didn't want it to start rattling. Seems useless with 35% tint.
