Thank you!

edit: actually adding a question. According to size chart they are not wider than NT-01s, but you are saying they are actually wider unlike the measurement? or just because front might have rubbing issue with 285?

It would be nice to run 285 square so that I can swap front and rear (only $20 for remounting and balancing)

I wouldn't run wider than 275 in sticky tires on 10" wheels. Need sidewall support.

Besides that the 285s are insanely wide, the 10" wheel just doesn't offer enough support.
The 285 would fit quite happily on an 11", but i have them mounted on 10.5s. I'm sure they could use some more width

Totally agree. I like running 275s on 10.5s if possible

Thanks for the enlightenment! I guess I will just follow your advice.

I'd highly suggest giving the ar1's a try. I've ran faster times on them compared to when I'm on nt01's

Ditto on the Nankang AR-1’s, I run a 305/30/19 squared and the grip is fantastic w/ my MCS dampers. I’m about a second to a second and a half slower than a 991.1 gt3rs weissach driven by a pro driver on a 2.5mile-ish course. The gt3rs weissach was on cup2’s with the stock aero/wing. For context, I’m faster than the gt3rs in braking and cornering, he gets me coming out of low speed corners before long straights

I have the AR1 295/315 (run small) on the car now and coming off of Yoko A052 in 265/295. The Yoko were very fast and was not disappointed with wear rate. Someone here runs A052 in 295/315, but seems big for 10/11”.

Next track day isn’t until early September, will report on AR1
I was running a 295/30, 315/30 A052 on my car for a bit. You're right though, it was on a 10.5/11.5 wheel set. I wouldn't try that on a 10/11 wheel set. I've since switch to a 295/35 square A052 on the same wheels (10.5/11.5). To run that much front end grip you need some fairly high roll stiffness up front. I was on a 571 pound front spring (ohlins ttx), stock front bar and 3.4 degrees of camber up front and it wasn't working. The shoulders wore like crazy compared to the center of the tire and the grip wasn't really there. On a side note, the diff absolutely hated that short of a rear tire. It was locking and unlocking really awkwardly on corner exit. It felt like a speed wobble on a motorcycle when trying to get the power down. It turned the car into a point and shoot drive.

I've switch to the 295/35 set up and increased the front spring rate to an 800 and have an adjustable bar up front set to full soft to see how the new spring rate helps out up front.

If you're hitting traffic go up a class. Sounds like you are faster than the other cars.

I have moved up in several organizations. Last month at VIR with Trackdaze I stayed in Advanced so as to guide around a few of my friends who were there first time, or getting reacquainted after long absences.

One concern is that the only place to go up is to the Instructor group, which with many organizations has “no point by required pass anywhere” rules. I am a little worried if I will do well with the no point by situations (I’m perfectly comfortable with passing anywhere).

What wheels are you running with that 19” square setup?

Wanted to report on the A052’s, 265/295 on 18” 10/11 Apex wheels.

My first thought based on how they look mounted is that they run a bit small. I may go with 295 square on the 10/11 Apex wheels next time.

On track they seem a bit faster than the Nittos, difficult to compare based purely on laptime since weather conditions were different, suspension is different. I’ve put 3.5 days so far and they seem to have another 1 or 2 days in them.

The differences compared with Nittos, in no particular order
- bigger operating window. After they peak they don’t degrade as markedly as the Nittos.
- faster recovery. With the Nittos once they get hot and greasy they stay that way for the session, as opposed to the Yokos where you can cool them off for 2 laps and here they go again.
- faster to come up to temp/pressure. If I lowered the pressure on the Nittos to say 28 it took them 4-6 laps to come up to ideal. With the Yokos they come up in 2-3 laps, and I can start at 30 since I’m aiming for 37-38 hot.

For just a little extra cash, I thought they are worth it.

F: 19x10.5 +20 (recently I’ve been experimenting with a 5mm spacer for an effective offset of +15 in order to have additional tire-to-strut clearance while on track. I’ve never had an issue, just being extra safe)
R: 19x11.5 +44

On 305/30/19 Nankang AR1. (When I have street tires mounted it’s usually a 295/305 stagger). Nankang is releasing their 325/30/19 AR-1 in a week or two, so I’ll be moving away from the 305 squared to a 305/325 stagger. Tons of room in the rear to accommodate, and to be honest, I really need the extra grip when powering out of corners (F80Paul Ethanol tune)

-3 front camber
-2 rear camber

What kind of ride height are you running to make this work? Any pictures?

Without compression vs with compression (used a 7.5mm spacer in the second pic, now pulled back to a 5mm)

295 A052 on 10.5" square

Rotatable square set up is the answer for extending tire life in a big way. This Yoko 295 A052 on 10.5" looks OK, but could use another half inch.

Would like to go 18x10.5” square next season. Either 40mm or 25mm offset is offered by Apex. Any running or fender work done in the rear to make 20mm offset work?

ET36 Bimmerworld 10.5 TA5R clear easily. ET25 “should” be Ok depending on rear camber.

Love to see pics if you go that route

Got a photo of how 295/30-18 tires look on the car? These tires are going to be 1” shorter than stock.

Clearance (to ground) is an issue with the ride height I’m running on the MCS 1W
