BMW M4CS
So I have an option of purchasing a 2019 version of the M4CS and I am really torn between if I want it or not and thought I'd check everyone's thoughts on these and if it's worth the premium for one?
Just for reference my last few cars over the past decade have been 2011 C63AMG, 2013 E92 M3, 2012 X5M, 2016 F80 M3, 2017 440xi, 2018 540xi, 2018 M2, 2008 Aston Martin Vantage, 2019 Aston Martin Vantage and presently a 2019 E450 Coupe. So boredom is kicking again only 8 months after the E450 and I am looking and I have an option of getting into a M4 CS. Knowing that what I have owned before, would you guys suggest that it's worth the move or not? To make it fun, I will make this a vote but I am curious to hear about your guys' thoughts on CS's in general or in my situation. Cheers |

If you're getting it for close to sticker price - not worth it.
If you don't track - not worth it. If you care about daily driving comforts - not worth it. If it'll be a garage queen thinking it'll appreciate in value - not worth it. If you track and get a good discount - worth it.

I won't track it. May take it for drag once or twice but likely not even that. I basically just enjoy rare things or limited edition runs, so that part of it appeals to me the most.
It will be one of few other vehicles so it does not need to be driven in winter, though considering I drove my Aston's in winter, I will throw on winters on it for nicer days. Price will be approx $40K'ish lower than sticker price. |

I also do not track mine, and I use it as a daily all year long. |

I do feel it rides as good as my old 17 Civic M3, and nicer than a ZCP though! Pleasantly surprised!

You need to give a little more details. New or used? How many miles/km? Asking price?
In itself, my M4cs is the best ///M I've owned in 20 years by far (owned E46/E92/F82/F82cs). All my ///M served the dual duty of 4-season daily driver and track toy. Being an avid track enthousiat, I don't mind the inherent compromises that come with daily driving a more track focused car. While the M4cs forgoes a little of the creature comforts of the standard M4 it is still loaded with features and more than makes up for it in the driving experience. For me, the only comfort feature that I really miss is the lack of comfort access, even after almost 3 years of ownership I still find myself tugging at the handle of a locked door . That being said, if an M4cs is worth it is highly dependent on what you are looking for in a car. The M4cs is not intdended for everyone, but for those that it is, it is very worth it.

Ex-track nerd no longer one, I am delighted with the M4 CS. I think it's severely, undeservedly underrated, under the radar even, a victim to the youtube influencer shine received by the much hyped M2 CS. My only other M was an owned since new 2004 E46 M3 which is quite honestly a pretty flawed model pardoned for its atrocities by the jury of time and nostalgia. The M4 CS is streets ahead as an overall reliable, robust and raw driving package over any of its predecessors, imho. In the fullness of time, given what we know of the G8X so far, it may well be the pinnacle of M ICE performance. As an aside, the E46 M3 has one of the worst exhaust notes in the lineage. Brakes are poor as well. The sub-frame isn't trustworthy and the steering is absurdly vague compared to the much maligned 996.2 Carrera same gen. I do miss it because the E46 CSL is the best looking M ever... if the M4 CS didn't exist. When you look under the covers and actually get seat time, the M4 CS rewards those who appreciate all the bits and bobs that make up its whole. gl!

There has been a ton of debate on whether the CS models are worth the premium. The guys that don't have one say it's not worth it and the guys that do say it's worth every penny. Don't listen to the guys that tell you by adding a few carbon bits and a tune to a base or even a comp M3 you can have a CS. Those German cowboys did something special with the CS and to me the total package was worth the price of admission.
I disagree that if you don't track it it's not worth it. The improved driving dynamics can easily be observed on the street or on challenging public canyon roads. The unique carbon aero pieces and special wheels look amazing and are functional too. If you add up the cost of those pieces and wheels plus labor to install your looking at 12-13k easy. Do a forum search on the CS. The differences are many. The only comfort item I miss is the side traffic detection warning. Most complain about comfort access but I just keep my fob clipped to my belt loop and it's no biggie to me. |

I don't miss any of the creature comforts I "gave up" (or really never realized I don't need...), it actually made me more aware of my surroundings in parking lots. The dynamics alone and how it drives makes it a wonderful daily driver, and the extra TQ where it matters the most really makes it more pleasant, and the more you push it, the better the dynamics feel. The front-end bite of this thing is incredible, without any harsh feeling ride and/or crashing over bumps.
Plus, in the 1.5 years I've have mine, I've only seen 2 other M4cs's and 2 other M3cs's on the road, and I live in Sarasota FL, where M3/M4's are aplenty like 911's... However with that being said, it's not worth the price @ MSRP USD. Thankfully I believe the used one's are more reasonable now as I don't think there are many new ones on the lot. I'm a previous E46/E90 M3 owner, and I wouldn't trade my M4cs for anything else in BMW's line-up at the moment, perhaps maybe the M2cs but I haven't driven one yet.

I guess my dilemma is I got my E only a few months ago and have modified it a bit to suit my liking and after having 5 BMW's in row having a different feeling was nice at times. But for some reason the M4CS is pulling me too, not sure just because I am bugged again with the current vehicle and just want something different or if there's actually something about M cars that pulls me even though I've been through 4 before.
My E looks like this if it matters: |

Looks good but it's not "special"
130 mph top speed in e450 yes you are definitely bored 5.1 0 to 60 Only benze that I'd care about is C63, e63 if I could tolerate the ride and afford one how I'd spec it. You have the drivers bug 440, e450, 540 you can lump them together. Nice cars My only concern is you'll definitely notice missing the comfort access and the luxury of the Benze if you get the CS I think M4 competition is the way to go! No hate you've had a lot of awesome cars. That 450 is not you from the fleet you've had |

Eclass is more luxury than Sport.
M4cs is more Sport than luxury. Very different cars imo. Why not get M2cs if you want special car? Other cars to consider are 991 911 and Lexus LC500. Both are on a different level than cars you owned previously. |

The M2 I had has been the car that I have had for the shortest amount of time (2.5 months I believe). I found it way too small and tight for my liking and while it was a fun car to drive spiritedly, it didn't do much for me as a daily driver.
I wouldn't mind trying out a 911 4S or higher trim at some point but the issue of swapping cars SO often is that I only trade them when I get decent trade values that I can live with and typically out of all my contact my BMW guy gives me the best deals and that is also partly the reason why I have been through so many BMW's in the past as well. |

The CS models are fantastic. Even if I didn't track mine I'd still have it.
I think your issue is somehow you went from many M cars to a completely vanilla, old person's car. The E450 is not sporty at all, definitely not rare or exclusive, it's a nice car for someone who doesn't like cars at all. You don't have to get a CS, but please buy something more in line with the other cars you've had. C63S is you want to stay with Merc |

Made the call guys and while I was really close to getting back into a bmw a decided to not do that yet due to the issues of getting bored. But ended up being back in something that I will enjoy.

Good choice. Honestly anything to dump that E450, its looks like a mustang and that reverse rake was not doing it any favors. Given your past choices I would call that one a brain fart lol.

I’m new to the group and this is my first M car. Just wondering if there is anything that listed production numbers for the M4 CS cars by color or options? I have a 2019 black sapphire and would love to know how many were made and sent to the USA.
