Has anyone updated their bmw to android auto? If so how and did you use Bimmer Tech? Are you happy with the upgrade?

If anyone is interested, I am organizing a group buy of an Android Auto/Carplay MMI unit. https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1646810&page=8

That's what I gathered from that thread also. I have a 16 with the NBT EVO unit so I don't think the group buy pertains to me unfortunately. There is a link in that thread to another unit someone found on Alibaba that supposedly works with NBT Evo units.

Actually even easier, look HERE and compare what your main screen looks like with their pics. |

Well the group buy is over but it's on sale so I just bought it for $225 including tax and shipping. Still pretty damn good vs what an Android Auto interface usually runs...

I ordered the one with Big Evo Coding. EDIT - Just chatted with the seller, apparently the only thing they have for the Evo units is coding service for Carplay, they don't have anything to add Android Auto... Last edited by Tangent; 12-11-2019 at 11:36 PM.. |

So I found THIS Android MMI unit that the seller confirmed would work with my 10/15 production ID4. In the end though I decided to go a slightly different direction and got THIS unit which replaces the iDrive screen entirely with a 10.25" touchscreen that can go between displaying the regular iDrive and being a stand-alone fully functional Android tablet that'll run everything you could through Android Auto. That includes running Android Auto internally. It can use its own SIM card for data or connect to your phone's hotspot for data.

I can't view the second link you posted without creating an Alibaba account. Please post your thoughts on this after you get it installed. I'm curious to see how it works out for you.

THIS link should work better... I got the 8 core version without the cam. I'll definitely post my impressions when I get it but in the mean time there are these vids that I watched when researching it. They're a bit longer than necessary but you get good info anyway.
