I left it in default mode for about 5 miles before I finally said "enough" and pressed the M1 button. Never looked back. The key to it is to have respect for the power under your right foot. Everything else will fall into place. |

I was a dumbass and left my mountain bike in a position under the car port that when I pulled the car into the garage, it fell on the car.

I love this car. I hate that it's white. Wasn't my choice. My BMW 435 lease was up and I called my bro in law whose also my best friend that weekend and put me in a white m4 few days later. Still gets tons of attention but pisses me the hell off that there are 5 white m4's constantly trolling my neighborhood. I live in queens NY. Just wanted to stand out and every time I see a white M4 which is every time!! I want them to total their cars. I know it's mean. WTVR

I just thought of another confession... This car was not on my radar, nor did I ever care for BMWs until I went on an ED with a fellow forum member vonmayr.
When I first saw his car, I thought "What's the big deal, I don't see anything special about it" |

Can you "Appreciate" an entire thread? This is all awesome stuff.
My confession? I love burnouts (especially in the M4 since they're ridiculously effortless) and I do them as often as I can. The other day my wife and I were driving on a two-lane road (down in Mexico, of course). I could see about a half a mile ahead of me with no oncoming cars. I could see about a quarter mile behind me and no cars in sight. I slammed on the brakes and came to a complete stop. Put it in Sport Plus mode, turned off traction control and floored it. 2nd gear... 3rd gear... 4th gear and still spinning. Finally between grabbing 5th gear and easing off the throttle, this particular burnout came to an end. Yeah, I'm likely going to need new rears before the car sees 4000 miles but I don't care. I'm having one fuck of a good time. It's like I'm 17 all over again. |

I take it to the speed limit (265-267km/h) almost every time I sit in it.
Comute to work 50km on a usually empty highway and it's my daily car. is that stupid? |

Sometimes I wish the steering wheel was a bit thinner in diameter (like in most 911s). Think the car would feel a bit more connected and provide a little more feedback.

When I received the car, I just couldn't switch to reverse. I thought I was going to break something. I had to go check the manual and see how I had to engage it. Not helpful, it only said "you need to overcome the resistance of the selector lever pushing dynamically to the left". WHAT THE HELL IS DYNAMICALLY LEFT??. I was freaking out and was still parked outside the dealership. I had to turn off the car, go to the salesperson, and had him explain how to put reverse in the damn thing. I was ashamed...
After that, it was all joy. I don't dislike the I6 sound, and the ride is comfortable for me. Looks like a million bucks and is fast on all aspects. I really love it, specially after learning how to deactivate the traction control (not MDM, the whole thing off) in Sport mode. It really makes a difference on everyday driving. |

I verbally back-handed my son.
While on vacation in Hawaii he told me he was missing his girlfriend. I replied, "I know what you mean, I miss my car." My wife, "You did not." I sort of did, but I didn't mean it THAT way. Sorry, Son.

I wasn't even considering the car four hours before I bought it.
I never drove the car, just sat in it. I took it through an automatic car wash an chipped a wheel, now I rarely wash it - no time I love the fact that I have to "confirm" my M2 button choice (are you sure you want to risk crashing your car?) Last week I just realized that I can get a chirp going from 2nd to 3rd (DCT) I just rolled 35,000 miles after 21 months and I don't care that I am going to have to pay for an extra 15000 miles at the end of the lease. I never buy extended warranties, but bought the tire and wheel warranty, have replaced a total of 5 tires now for a grand total of $100 in deductibles - I already broke even I think. My wife was behind me in her E93 M3 at a stop light - I smoked her. Two miles down the road I saw a cop pull her over in my review mirror - the cop asked he why she was chasing that other car, she said that's my husband and his car is way faster than mine and I'm pissed. He let her (us) go with a verbal warning I almost always drive in economy, the beast can be unleashed with a push of M1 or M2 I don't understand why people care so much about how it sounds My son told his grandmother that he isn't going to get a nice car when he is older, just a car like dads - I like that. I put my front license plate on - don't care |

Maybe I’m a bit anomalous as a BMW M owner.
• I don’t know what software version my car is running, nor do I care. • I haven’t experienced traction control issues nor have I seen the traction control light show on the dash. • I love the smell and touch of full leather. It provides enjoyment even when the car is idle. • Sometimes the car in the next lane gets a jump at the light, even mini-vans and Priuses. It doesn’t upset me, regardless of car type, I’m not racing. Just because my car can go fast, doesn’t mean I should go fast. Safety and responsibility trump exhibition of speed on public roads. • I find the M4 to be a great “all-rounder.” It’s a nice blend of comfort/competence/performance compared to Audi’s, Porsches and MB’s I’ve previously owned. • The car market is competitive and dynamic. The “latest and greatest” is, at best, a temporary state. Something better is almost always just around the corner. There are many higher performing cars on the market, but this car has the performance to satisfy my current needs. I’ll still look at all the interesting options and competing models when it again comes time to buy. • When I was a young adult shopping for my first car purchase, I mentioned to my father “I can make the numbers work” on a car I wanted. His advice, “if you’re trying to make numbers work, you have no business buying a car.” Many cars later, I still follow that advice today. • Car magazine reviews and comparisons touting the sensational attributes, performance and overall excellence of competing models have no bearing on my personal enjoyment of my car. • I’ve always theorized the owners who get the absolute most enjoyment from their cars are out driving them and not obsessing, debating or arguing about them in forums. • M3’s/M4’s look great is so many colors! Enjoy the ride! |

I think you probably are - you sound more like an AMG owner based on those forums.
As for your TC light, that's because you have a 'vert and/or because you don't push the car. If you have the top down you get a lot more traction but the penalty is weight of course. That said, you can still break the wheels loose at highway speeds or anytime you're pushing the car, but it's not the default like it is with the other versions. I've always theorized that people who see their TC light are probably getting more enjoyment out of their cars than those who don't |
