How Do You Drive?

I'm talking about when you come to a stop in traffic, at a junction etc. Do you just brake or do you put the car into neutral until you move off again?

I've owned my M4 2 weeks and I put it into neutral. It does take a few seconds for the car to move once I put it back into drive so maybe just braking and not putting into neutral is a good idea.

Is there any length of time that has to pass before you have to put it into neutral? For instance, if you know you're going to be stationery for a few minutes/how long can you just hold it with the brake?

Im assuming DCT car? Eitherway tho honestly, not really anything you need to do. Whether you are holding the clutch down or sitting in drive with the brake on (DCT car), the clutch is disengaged on either trans. Hence the car not slow rolling until you press the gas (DCT car). The XHP trans flash on a DCT can change that tap the gas setting but I actually like it as is stock.

I thought a similar one the other day. My F80 is stick and at stop lights I go to neutral and clutch-out. I wondered if new stick drivers sit there in gear clutched-in all the time...

On my DCT I don't ever do anything extra--just normal brake and gas.

DCT - Just normal brakes. Don't see any reason to put it in neutral.

6mt. neutral clutch out. in regular TC autos, I also tend to put them in neutral when stopped, if I expect its going to be more than 10 seconds stopped.
edit:
Question should have been "How do you not drive" heh

The owner's manual would be the ideal source of information...but I suppose it's easier to post a question to a forum and let other people give you advice.

No need to be a dick about it.

I came across a video on YouTube and the guy said that you should put it into neutral when stopped for a while.

It should be mandatory to read the owner's manual.

BMW also have made a video how to use the DCT

There is a bunch of dicks in this forum. Maybe because the majority of bmw owners are male?!!🤔
Dont let them get to you. They get off when they get a reaction like yours..

No need for neutral. Stop and go as if it were an automatic. Only time i use neutral is if i leave the car running and get out. Obviously pull the e-brake so it doesn't roll( like the video posted above^)
