Loud and Harsh Ride with Style 666M wheels and Michelin PS4S

Let me preface by saying, I like cars that ride hard, I like to feel some of the bumps, I want to be one with the road, but honestly, sometimes I feel the ride on the 20" is just too harsh, loud booms inside the cabin over tiny crevices, almost as if the car is going to fall apart. The tire noise is also crazy loud, at times I feel like I am riding on a souped up Jeep Wrangler. I have 15K miles on my tires. Is this just the price we pay for riding on 20"s or will a set of different tires make the ride more civil?

I have driven other sports cars with 20" rims and they are not nearly as harsh or loud as mine.

Thanks for any input

Honestly most of it is just how the car is designed. The 20's, 15k mile old performance tires that are almost a foot wide, subframe mounted to the body of the car, CF roof, not a lot of sound deadening, and let's be honest....some cheap materials used inside.

It's annoying as hell to me too because of how OCD I am with noises, but I usually drive with the windows cracked, music up, and I have the MPE which all helps drown out any interior noise.

Check your tire pressure. This car is insanely sensitive to tire pressure with the 20s even with the adaptive suspension on comfort. I ride at 31 psi so 1 psi under the recommendation and it is way more comfortable. I will prob get flamed for the 1psi deficit 😂

My 2016 340 xdrive with 19s and RFTs rode at 38 psi and was smooth as a Lincoln on the other hand with the adaptive suspension.

I've even dropped to 29 or 30 psi cold and it really makes a difference. Those 666 wheels are also heavy thus due to the unsprung weight tend to deliver a harsher ride. When I switched to FI-Rs there was a noticeable difference in the ride.

Make sure your pressures are even leaving cars and coffee 😂

I went from 19” PS4S to 20” PS4S and was surprised at how amazingly good the ride quality was. There’s something wrong if your 20” PS4S are not riding well... likely tire pressures too high. Mine are 32 PSI for both 19s and 20s and both rode very well.

I have felt the same as OP.

Being in Texas with high temps the tires at 32 cold just seem too stiff…

Thinking of dropping down to like 29-30 cold to see how that goes…

Thoughts?
