It is likely that the shock will not be the exact same product that you buy off the shelf. Probably will have bespoke spring rates and internal valving specific to the GTS. This has been the case for other BMW variants fitted with coilovers from the factory, eg E92 GTS, R56 Mini GP.

The M3/4 system would be a HAS system only keeping the car's original dampers, so the cost should be quite lower.

Or month

Just had a chassis malfunction error code blamed on my swift springs. Did some reading on here and its a decently common thing caused by a faulty accelerometer sensor. Already ordered the parts for the DIY fix.

Would you mind expanding on this? Was the fault due to an error with a bad sensor or did the Swift springs cause something to go wrong?

Dealer blamed the springs. I did some reading on here and they all pointed to the same sensor. I looked into it on getbmwparts and the sensor is only on the two front shocks and looked to be easily accessible. I just need to figure out which sensor it is and if there is any coding to be done. Until then I cannot adjust my suspension settings and it's stuck on full stiff.

Damn, that sucks. I have heard so much negativity towards springs on and off I'm really starting to think I should just deal with the wheel gap. Sorry to hear the news. Good luck!

I'm sure I could fight it and get them to replace it. The part is only $130 list so I'd rather save the fight for something more worthwhile.

In situations like this- is it possible to stop by another dealer?

That sucks. While I'm a big fan of the way the Swifts look, I just don't want to deal with the hassle on a warrantied car. I guess we'll have to see how much this MP H.A.S will cost and whether it'll be worth it or not.

I originally really wanted passive shocks, but the CP is too good to pass up for the other stuff.

From what I understand the dealers can make notes that other dealers can see, but I'm not sure how that works.

No kidding, been riding the swifts for over 6 months, tons of track time too, and still ok. Did your error happen during hard driving or just popped up randomly? Can you share the DIY fix you found?

Funny I had the same malfunction right after the spring install as well, but I can guarantee u it has nothing to do with the springs. Dealers love a way out tho to make money. The actually battery wire was loose which was causing malfunctions to appear.

I'll check those before starting. As far as a DIY fix, I haven't seen any. From what I saw on the diagram it should be the only sensor on the shock body and should be fairly easy to replace. I looked over the shop notes on my invoice from BMW and it mentions a side so I'll swap that one out first and clear codes to see if its it.

I had some stuff in the trunk at the time (200lbs or so) and was driving normally when it first came up. I don't think the weight had to do with it since its a front suspension issue. It now comes up within a few minutes or starting the car.

Guys, keep it on topic. Start a new thread for your sensor issues. Everytime I see a new post in this thread, I get excited and then .

Have they? We've had "I know a guy who knows a guy who says look out for them in the summer" and a non specific statement about M performance parts due in the summer.

Would be great if you could show me the press release with the specific release date for them?

Edited to add, the press release says June 2016 so hopefully just 11 days to go, but I would have thought dealers would be taking orders by now if that was the case.
