How comfortable are the Competition Package seats?

To be honest, I kinda expected this when I found out that they took out the lumbar support for the CP seats.

When inflating the lumbar support to the max, the side bolster become much less "invasive".

I actually love that aspect of the "civic" seats. For the street, I inflate the lumbar support and open up the side bolsters for a nice and comfortable seat. At the track, I deflate the lumbar support completely and tighten the side bolsters. This way I sit deep in the seat with the bolsters holding me snuggly into place.

Even with a non ZCP car, my MY '15 went in for oil service the other day, and my SA said that my brakes were (according to the sensors) due to be replaced at 110k miles. Sooo, with regular driving, and some added track days I don't think the brakes are anything to worry with on these. My .02, and I have a '17 ZCP on it's way.

I picked the car up out of town and drove 1200 miles back home.

I was a bit heavier when I got them. I've lost a little bit of weight and have no issues with them.

Why in the world would anyone want a tweaked version of an already good thing? I mean who would want better wheels, some nice blacked out bits, a sportier exhaust, more HP, a sharper handling suspension and cooler lightweight seats along with some very cool seatbelts. Nah.... who wants that stuff? lol

Better to beg forgiveness than ask permission, huh? I agree, but now you have to find a way to live with the decision. Take responsibility (you did something selfish), promise to never do it again, let her know how bad you feel when she complains (it makes you feel sad, stupid and inadequate, not angry) and find out what she needs to help her tolerate the discomfort without saying anything (or gesturing, e.g., sighing) about it. That might be enough but offer, weekly foot rubs or a massage, dinner out or a once a month spa visit help. Remember, you're NOT trying to appease her you are demonstrating, through action, that you really feel bad, which you do. Lol

I had reservations about the ZCP seats, too. Turns out they aren't bad. I managed to put ~2000 miles on them while in Europe... a couple _long_ days behind the wheel, too. I miss the thigh extension..and the massage function that my 5er had, but aside from that, two thumbs up.

The wife didn't mention any discomfort either.... Winning!!

I have had several 4+ hour trips with the ZCP seats, and they have been comfortable for me. Dealing with back issues for years, these seats give me no trouble on longer drives.

I really enjoy how well the side bolsters feel too.

Reviving an ooollllddd thread here...

After 2k miles into ownership I too have tailbone pain after any extended driving. I'm 6'2" and 172lbs but a bit "light" in the seat padding area. What's funny is I feel the seats are great when in them (and definitely better than my old E90 ZCP) and like the side bolster support. But after I get out I feel it.

Anyways, I will look into buying some of the insert options and/or tilt seat bottom back too. But if anyone has more recent advice I am all ears.

I've had an L1-2 laminectomy, and just did 9 hour each way road trip with no issues at all.....2018 M3 ZCP.

Yeah same here, 2018 M3 ZCP and I find the seats are fantastic, did a charity event in Sept with about 8-9 hours of driving over a 14 hour day and didn't feel any discomfort.

Hmm thanks. I'm going to try the $35 amazon lumbar thing to see if that fixes it. Not sure if its lack of lumbar support or insufficient seat bottom cushion that is the culprit but I really don't want to sit on a pillow :

The seats are basically the same. However, you do not get lumbar support. Other than that, the seats are comfortable enough to do long road trips.

The seats are acceptable, non-ZCP seats are better. Not sure what BMW was thinking when they were cheapen out on no adjustable lumbar support. I’m 6’2” and I feel that lumbar support on my a33 not my waist where it supposed to be

I went from a 2015 F82 to a 2018 F82 ZCP. Fortunately, I was able to get a full day's seat time in a ZCP I took out through their BMW OnDemand program when I visited The Welt last summer and knew the seats fit me well before I got my new car. It all depends on your body type-- I'm 5'-11" 175 lbs. Unlike the regular seats, there is no lumbar or side bolster adjustments or the extendable thigh supports. Unfortunately, you just need to sit in it. Having said that, I have to say that the ZCP seats are far more comfortable to me than the seats I had in my regular F82. Good luck!
