Powdercoat 666 wheels like GTS

Is it possible to get the zcp 666 wheels powder coated to match the gts wheels? Has anyone done this?

No reason it would not be possible as wheels are powder coated everyday, especially in repairs.

To be done properly, they should be stripped down first, essentially what is done for proper repairs.

However, make sure you get someone with top quality references, even if it means shipping if not available locally.

The other potential issue, especially if 666m are like 437m, the BMW color codes do not match the actual color. You can find various comments on this in forums. Whether it's done so people are forced to buy actual OEM replacement instead of repair, no idea.

A quality shop will know this and be able to match the exact shade.

As you are doing complete set it won't make a difference, however you should get some info in case they need refinishing or future wheel needs matching.

You would need actual GTS wheel to have exact tint match based on 437m color match.

You would need actual 666m GTS rim to have them get exact tint match based on 437m color match.
Thanks for the info. Have to find a place. I'm 2 hours out of Chicago so may not be too tough.

I don't quite understand your last sentence tho. Why do I need a gts wheel? Just for the actual color match?

That might prove difficult lol

Correct, for exact color match. If you do not care about exact match that will not matter on your set unless you put them up against an actual GTS Wheel, not an issue.

Sorry guys. We will have to wait until spring time and put on my summer tires.

The cost was ~$200 / wheel.

Did they redo the whole wheel or shield off the face and just do the barrel and sides of the spokes?

I THINK they masked it off. Not sure to be honest.
